The best team isn’t necessarily the champion.
The champion should be determined from the best teams.
ETA: Tangentially, that's why I favor seeding the NBA playoffs 1-16.

So what’s the “best team”?
Teams with most wins/fewest losses
Teams that won a championship
Teams that have most Pro prospects
Best coached

Teams with the strongest resumes.
You can't just say they have to be conference champs when a conference champ (at best only 1) gets left out under this system.
It's a bigger field than 2, but still highly subjective. Which is why it needs to be an 8 team playoff. This is the hair splitting I deplore.
At least make a playoff berth a given for conference champs. Then we're left debating the merits of teams that are strong but haven't met that minimum requirement.

Ok so you want to use fictional things to determine these things
SOS and rankings are biased. But you know this

It needs to be 24 or 12 teams if we’re looking for best team
If it’s a National Champion it needs to be 6 or 4
I just think they need to come out give a definition every year of what they want

Literally just said it's subjective. It always will be unless it expands.

Nah. 8 is the sweet spot. You know I am correct here.

No it’s not. I think it should be 24 and make it an official Championship

But Peyton Manning gets credit for two super bowl wind correct? He was statistically the worst QB in the league that year, yet when anyone wants to make a GOAT argument for him they will always say he won two super bowls. Why the hypocrisy? Tim Tebow was the QB of that Denver team abd they won, period. Just disputing the bullshite claim that Tebows career ended after Meyer because it didnt

I do like most of your 12-team playoff idea (I'd replace the auto spot for an indy with a second at-large). I think that's the best way to remove as much human bias as possible.

Well he’s being stupid with his numbers for effect . But I’m saying it needs to be a percentage like the bylaws like he’s trying to.
Posted on 12/2/17 at 10:39 am to G The Tiger Fan
That’s fair about Indy. But if the Indy pool grew to what it was in 80’s then I think you give them an auto spot.

I agree with him. If they win they deserve a shot though.

Even if you don’t think he’s a top 5 player of all time, saying he’s one of the worst is shows how little you know about CFB. Seriously whose alter are you?
Posted on 12/2/17 at 10:41 am to sms151t
Yeah, I could agree if the pool grew. But there aren't many now and I can imagine a scenario that doesn't seem too off-the-wall where the best one has a 7-5 record or something.

Tim Tebow just embodied everything that is wrong with the SEC homer/Crimson colored glasses/eye test bullshite argument.
It's not about what you fricking THINK would happen; it's about what ACTUALLY happens.

Man I'd argue the complete opposite. The larger the field the more it'd be about finding a "national champion"
The smaller the field the more likely the actual best team over the course of the entire year wins.
