In football the good ole boy network and local media were out in force for the guy that talks like us + Alleva wanted to win the press conference more than he wants to win football games so he rushed O out there after Herman counteroffered. Pure emotional thinking that he wasnt faced with during the basketball search.

I guarantee if Wade had counteroffered for an extra 50k Alleva would have bailed.

Exactly. Wade sought out LSU. As he mentioned before, he thinks LSU has all the resources to become the next Florida in basketball (something I've been screaming for years!). Wade even turned down a chance to be the HC at his alma mater, Clemson, to come to LSU. Wade wanted the job and had his eye on it for a few months prior to the Jones era mercifully coming to an end.

Eddie Nunez was a former Florida player under Donovan. He interviewed Wade and told Joe Wade reminded him a lot of Donovan and essentially convinced Joe to hire Wade. If left to his own devices I'm sure Alleva would have found another coach who NO ONE ELSE IN AMERICA wanted to triumphantly lead the basketball program.

Circumstances came about to save Alleva from his own incompetence
