I see it looked like he shite his pants, freaked out, and just chucked the ball to the sidelines

The rush was coming.

He explained after the game what happened there. Miscommunication.

Yea I get that, but watching it on tv the rush was coming, he threw the ball to an area that no one was in while in the pocket

You can't watch that play and immediately not think intentional grounding

I just rewatched it. Pass rush wasn't close. Clearly trying to stop the clock, but fricked it up. In hindsight, they should have just clocked it.

I agree. I think refs call that 8/10 times, even though it's missing the "imminent loss of yardage" element.

Yeah so what happens if he doesn’t throw the ball immediately and he pulls it back in. We can assume he gets sacked because my opinion is the pressure is imminent as the play is not designed for a lot of protection.

I have no idea, but it's pointless to go down that road because, as he explained during the post-game, he was simply trying to stop the clock. It wasn't a real pass play. So to inject "well what if he pulled it and started looking for another receiver" into the discussion is misguided.

I disagree.

ETA: Listen, I'm happy we got the call. Although I don't think it fits the definition of intentional grounding, I think refs call it 8/10 times because it just looks like grounding. Throwing it to no one from the pocket is going to get that call more times that not. It was a dumb play by Cousins.

Be honest, did you know about this part of the rule?

No. I thought it was just "inside the pocket and there isn't a receiver nearby."

The thing is, it shouldn’t have been on the list at all. At least one official on the field is always able to communicate with the suits at 345 Park Avenue. They handle the replays from the league office and we get all kinds of strange interpretations of what a catch is or isn’t. Why can’t someone in New York get in the ear of someone in stripes on the field and say, “Hey, don’t drop that flag, he wasn’t under pressure?”

While this may be true, I have a hard time believing anything from a reporter that covers the NFL and does not know how the replay rules work. There has to be a call (i.e., intentional grounding) in order for there to be a replay and communication with someone in the league's offices.

Were you watching the same game? Cousins was hit repeatedly by the blitzing Saints and completed the pass virtually every time. Most for TD’s. And he got hit hard! Washington should give him whatever he wants. And he didn’t lose the game. Brees carved up their defense with the help of Kamara, Thomas, Ginn, and Ingram. And how about that Coby Fleener?! Best game as a Saint! Gutsy win! Looking like ‘09!

Shut the frick up. Go back to your thread about Alvin Kamara and read it. Nothing at you say about any subject at any time the rest of your life will have any relevance. You're a fool. A stupid, ignorant fool. I'm using text-to-talk right now and the words are dripping from my mouth as I say them.

Well he's retarded so he is irrational by nature.

He's also trying to distract from his Kamara hot take

NFL apologizes to Redskins for intentional grounding call

It was the incorrect call. No intentional grounding. No reason to wear the black and gold glasses, Saints earned that W regardless of the blown call.
