He really is a pos. If it weren't for him and that scumbag Nixon, the Vietnam War wouldn't have been dragged out at the expense of 25,000 more American dead and about a million more Southeast Asians. He and Nixon also are responsible for expanding the war into Cambodia and destabilizing it, which allowed the homicidal Khmer Rouge to come to power there.

Whoa there cowboy. Why not put the blame on JFK or LBJ for this? I would think it very difficult for a new President to pull out of a proxy war with the Soviets during that time. Very easy to play 21st Century Monday morning quarterback imo.

Because Nixon basicly committed treason in 1968 when he secretly contacted the South Vietnamese government before he took power and told them to hold out for a "better deal" that he would give them. At the time LBJ had convinced the South Vietnamese to agree to go to Paris for the peace talks. The CIA have these phone conversations of Nixon on tape that prove Nixon did this. Because of Nixon, the war lasted another four years with the costs cited in my previous post. Cambodia was 100% Nixon and Kissinger. They were the ones who made the decision to expand the war there. And at the end of it all, Nixon and Kissinger sold out the South Vietnamese with a shitty deal anyway.

Also, you can thank that rightwing ideologue John Foster Dulles for pushing the fallacious "domino theory" and screeching that if the communists win in Vietnam, we'd be fighting them on the beaches of California.
