Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has been speaking in recent days with Kellyanne Conway, per people familiar. Context of their conversations is unclear, people said. Conway is Ivey's longtime pollster/confidante.

This could give trump an out to get rid of sessions.

Or it could give trump a chance for "positive" press by responding strongly to moore

we'll see, but there are things going on behind the curtain right now

I think the election will be canceled.

Absolutely pathetic that Trump hasn't called for Moore to drop out. But, then again, Trump DGAF about the Republican Party.

I doubt Ivey cancels. She is on record about letting the people decide now, wants Alabamians to make these decisions, etc.

And considering she stepped in for a disgraced Bentley, and will be running her own campaign soon, it might be prudent to let this thing play out.

Maybe Alabama won’t make national fools of themselves

The Secretary of State has already stated that's not possible.

Why would they even consider cancelling the election? Even if he turns out to be a serial killer, people can vote against him.

I don’t think there’s a procedure to cancel the election. Not sure where you came up with that

This is a special election specifically called by the governor. She has the power to change the date, I think.

Oh, he'll definitely be a gift to the Dems. I fully expect Alabama to elect him. They will be defiant the more pressure that is applied nationally on Moore. Kinda like Mississippians were when the feds were pressuring the state to integrate Ole Miss. Ignorance knows no bounds. That being said, it is unnerving that the President of the United States is being so quiet when a child molester is about to be elected Senator from Alabama. Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. One would think he would seek to blunt the national embarrassment the GOP will be subjected to with Moore winning.

Trump already said that if the allegations are true, Roy Moore should drop out.

It should be cancelled on the basis of journalistic malfeasance - and the bill sent to WaPo.
