Prediction: Alabama Will Not Elect a Senator This Year

Special elections are at the sole discretion of the governor. Kay Ivey does not like Roy Moore and declined to endorse him, even though he's her party's nominee. She can call off the election tomorrow if she likes, and I'm pretty sure she likes.
Three of the four women in the story have been interviewed by local media, and all stand by their stories, as corroborated by their families.
Governor Ivey will call off the special election sometime next week and Alabama Republicans will have another shot at picking a decent candidate. Luther will finish out his term. Alabama will wait until the nationwide election to choose a Senator.

Sure it’s copypasta from Democratic Underground.

It could be worse.
You could've lived in Louisiana in 1991 and had a choice between Edwin Edwards and David Duke for governor.
THAT was a dried dog shite sandwich.

All special elections shall be held on such day as the Governor may direct.
This is the relevant piece of the Alabama code. Smarter people than I were discussing it on the radio this evening and said Kay has the authority to postpone the election indefinitely.
ETA: It was Leland Whaley and Andrea Lindenbergh...two conservative Alabama talk show hosts with years of Alabama political reporting experience. I trust them.

All special elections provided for by this chapter are to be ordered by the Governor, who must issue writs of election, directed to the judge of probate of the counties in which such election is required to be held and must specify therein the district or county in which, and the day on which, such election is to be held; the cause and object of the same; the name of the person in whose office the vacancy has occurred and, in all cases in which a special election is directed in a district composed of more than one county, such election must be directed to be held on the same day in each county.

It's been independently verified by local reporters. At least, the details that Roy Moore did pursue and date these women.

The one that was assaulted when she was 14 years old is a Trump supporter.

No, they rule of law settles it you fricking moron. Governor Ivey chooses the day of the election. It is within her power to postpone it. She despises Roy Moore. Every Alabama Republican of note despises Roy Moore. It will happen.

So, angry.
I’m sure there is a sitting member of Congress you could attack.

And Trump is no supporter of Roy Moore. This is the only excuse they needed to call a do-over.
Fear not. Alabama will elect a Republican, and Trump's boy will have a seat for another year. So, I don't see what you guys are worried about.

If any republican wins this election it has to be Moore. He can't be replaced on the ballot this close to election.

This isn't a normal election. It's a special election. It doesn't have to happen. The governor can choose to postpone it or call it off and wait for the regular election and start the whole process over.
Kay Ivey hates Roy Moore. I think she'll do it.

Wrong
She wants to run for Gov and that would destroy her run.
