I was a very vocal critic of Coach O but the way the team has improved throughout the season has me convinced that he has the ability to lead. Is he the best coach we've ever had? Absolutely not. Will he win us a national championship? At this point I'd have to say "probably not" simply because Nick Saban is still coaching and it's hard to beat that SOB. But do I believe he will lead LSU to the playoffs within 2 or 3 years? Yes!

I cannot and will not ignore facts and the fact is LSU has improved greatly since the Troy loss, considering this year's team is probably the least talented team we've had in 15 years.

Here's to hoping for continued improvement and a very fun 2018.

Thanks for the honest assessment.

It's one thing to not like the hire of Coach O, but it's another thing to run him and the team down at every turn for every little mistake.

Glad to know you can see the improvement this team is making and enjoy the wins unlike some on this board.

The next four wins this season are gonna be fun.

Oh I have enjoyed this season more than the last 10 simply because I had such low expectations. I didn't go into each game expecting to kick arse so when we played well and won, it was much more fulfilling.

There was nothing wrong with being upset about the way Coach O was hired or in taking a wait an see approach before jumping on the bandwagon. I think most LSU fans are starting to believe that he can get it done and will be able to get past the other things going forward. There will still be a handful of never O snowflakes who will post their obnoxious trash here, but such is the nature of the rant.

Why? Because he's a little optimistic? You must be a blast to hang out with.

That was his 14th post in 3 years, and boy was it ever a deep one.

I am still not sold on Coach O and did not like the hiring or hiring process. I think our success is due to our coordinators.

However, I cheer for and back this team 100%. In no way, shape, or form would I want Orgeron to fail now that he's in place.

Fair enough. At some point, though, assuming that LSU continues to have success with O at the helm, you will have to admit that he has contributed to that. You can't blame the failures completely on O while giving the assistant coaches all of the credit for the successes.

Word , not even close to true. LSUs roster is probably in the 4-8 range in terms of recruiting ranking out of highschool. Bama, Clemson , Georgia , Flordia State , and Michigan , and LSU have all been in the top 10 year in and year out for the last 4 years .

This. And the SEC is hot garbage this year. I'd like to know what his signature win is. Auburn?

Agreed. But that time only comes hen he replaces either or both coordinators and STILL has the measure of success we've come to expect at LSU.

To be honest, whether or not you're mildly happy with what LSU has done this year, we are NOT back to where we were recently...so there is still work to do to get that part of the job done. Then, after getting "back" we need to remain there after the loss of one or both coordinators.

At THAT point, you can then point to Orgeron as being responsible since he'll be the lone remaining factor. Until then, this system has not really been either proven in any way or tested since we're still on coordinator Set 1.

I like your thought....but I don't get your logic

If your reasoning for us not getting to the National Championship and winning one is Nick Saban but you have us getting into the playoffs in 2 or 3 years then wouldn't we have beaten Alabama to get there.....thus having better odds of winning one?

No. That's ridiculous.

It sounds to me like you have already made up your mind to give O no credit for any successes that LSU might enjoy. That's your choice to make, but it isn't rational, and it will only make you bitter.

With his rationale, he'd also have to blame any failures on the Coordinators as well as O but I'm willing to bet that any shortcoming is squarely on O's shoulders....
