So what the hell happened?

The article doesn't say anything.

Are people not allowed to talk and make noise at a concert? Should we all just sit quietly?

There is a venue in Dallas like that called The Kessler Theater. It's not for me but most of the acts it draws are quiet acoustic or piano types so it does make sense that they want it quiet while the music is playing.
