If you're missing a lot with a shotgun, it has nothing to do with your eye dominance. You're just a crappy shot.
I accept that but Im just trying to see if there is anything I can do to make myself feel better

Practice. And don't aim a shotgun (unless shooting at a deer or turkey). Too many people try to aim at a moving target. You don't aim at moving targets. You lead them.
I have been shotgunning right-handed all my life. But I shoot with both eyes open too. I don't feel the need to shoot with one eye closed.
Are you comfortable shooting the way you do now? If not, then maybe you need to make a change. If your technique is bad because you aren't comfortable with the way you are shooting, you aren't going to shoot well.
