According to authorities, the shooting took place in the 2000 block of Kleinert Ave. near Perkins Road sometime before 10:50 p.m. Police say 33-year-old Micah West smashed the front window of one of the units, reached around and unlocked the front door from the inside. West was shot by the homeowner after he made his way to the back of the apartment. West was shot twice in the chest and transported to a hospital. Police confirmed his death Wednesday afternoon. Back when I lived in a middle class neighborhood, my neighbor's teen aged soon used "bath salts". He tried to break down his own door with an axe while screaming some nonsense about killing himself.
On a related note, if you ever need 5 BRPD units in your neighborhood inside of a minute, just tell them that a crazed man is breaking down your neighbor's door with an axe and screaming something about "killing".
