This is the misconception with some of the pumpers on this board. People who objectively view the team and it's missteps are accused of wanting to lose more than we want to win. It's absurd.

Forgiven is an interesting word. I would still be upset he had so a bad program loss, however, I would appreciate that the ship has been righted and be less critical of Ed.
Seriously, if he dropped those two games, and then ran the table, that is a damn impressive feat. Not only because of SOS, but because the team did not quit.
Even if he loses to Bama, the likely outcome, I would still be happy beating Tenn, Arky, and TAMu.

I have never been upset with coach o. I was upset that alleva didn’t do a more thorough coaching search to find the best possible candidate. I hope coach o succeeds. But his hiring was inexcusable from a standpoint that the football program fuels the entire athletic budget and he was too great a risk. He has already proven to me that he has certain skills as a head coach. I blame much of the early season failures as lack of depth and the implementation of a new offensive scheme. If he recruits well and can hang onto his coordinators he can be successful. I just don’t think this is the year we can topple bama. Anything can happen and they are beatable just not likely. But I appreciate how the team hasn’t given up. He gets credit for that.

Assuming we lose this Saturday the following games after will be the big test in my eyes
One of the trademarks of the Miles teams was the post-Bama loss collapse that followed. If Orgeron avoids this and wins out since we will be favored ROS then I can give the man a chance
Anything less than 9-3 is a failure IDC what year it is or how young we are

Even though UF is lukewarm garbage, winning that game went a long way toward satisfying me for the season.
I’m not confident about how the team will play this coming weekend, but I am at least encouraged that the other team won’t know the plays we run for the first time in 5+ years. It may be a fun game to watch...

If he beats Bama and gets us to the SECCG I think 90% of the fanbase will forgive him.
If this game was in Tiger Stadium I think we would have a good chance to win. I just dont see us winning with Etling in Tuscaloosa. He has to play the game of his life for us to win. Something like 18 for 25, 250+ yards, 1 or 2 Tds, and NO turnovers.

BS!
Those of us disappointed in the hire and the hire's two terrible loses this season aren't like you. We can support a proven winner who wins big games.
What we cant support is a shitty coaching search and a 3-21 SEC resume hire who loses to Mississippi State by 30 and to a fricking SBC team out of the gate.

There are two different issues.
First, is his hiring. There is absolutely NOTHING HE CAN EVER DO to make the process of his hiring by Alleva ok. The ends can never justify the means in regards to hiring our own DL coach who had the head coaching record he had. This is VERY important and can not be overlooked. Regardless of how things play out, Alleva MUST answer for HOW he hired this coach. If it works out, it's not a good move, it's a fricking miracle...and we ought not be hoping for miracles when hiring coaches for a Top 10 program.
Second, nothing Orgeron and the current staff do THIS YEAR can make his hiring much of a success in the long term sense...and I said that before the season started. Orgeron was hired for the SYSTEM, which was a CEO head coach (let's call it a figure head) who would not do a whole lot and hire the "best coordinators in the country" to be left alone to do their things. We already had Aranda on staff and money kept him here. Orgeron did go and get Canada, but again...we paid him an absolute king's ransom to come.
So we have two of the best...this staff needs to now win at a BETTER RATE than the previous staff did. That's step one. And in their first season together, that already has not happened. Step two is to replicate that type of season AFTER having to replace "the best coordinators in the country" when they inevitably leave for head coaching gigs elsewhere. This revolving door system is what we signed up for when we hired a head coach who said his goal was to be less involved and hire coordinators to be left alone to do their things, so until we see that it works we're still evaluating the first staff which we all understand is never going to be a long term one.
So now...beating BAMA doesn't do a bunch. It would, however, show a REALLY GREAT turn around form the beginning of the year, and that would be a HUGE accomplishment for this team and staff. I'm pulling for it...

He's right about there being a segment that feels this way. Just as I think I was always right that there was a segment of our fan base that hated the Miles hire from day one and never got over it. Just like there was idiots who wanted him fired after the TENN home loss after Katrina and Rita. It was never most, but it was "a segment."
That being said, there are a contingent of folks on this board, and I humbly include myself in that number, that have tried to make their thoughts heard in a constructive and well thought out manner. We're not just "hating," and attempts to ignore those concerns by labeling them as just that will likely prove to be silly.

Have a downvote for bringing up stupid shite. I will forgive CEO if he runs the table. Anything less and he will have to redeem himself next year in my eyes.

People who "objectively view the team" understand that not all of the problems are the current staff's fault.
I obviously can't speak for you specifically, but it seems the general idea is "we're LSU, so we're ENTITLED to championships and anyone who doesn't deliver, no matter who's fault, or what the cause, or how much work needs to be done, or how long it might take, is a POS." That's not objective.
If the team loses badly to 'Bama, the O-negatives will fill this board with bile, even though nobody with any sense can objectively predict a win.
I'm not and have never been a "pumper," but I do try to stay objective.

If we beat Bama, I'd be all aboard the O train for the foreseeable future. If it's a respectable performance, I'll start to be accepting of O as the HC. If we come out and get embarrassed, I'll be ready to kick his arse to the curb again. The rest of the season should be a cakewalk with the rest of the SEC in shambles.
Next year doesn't start off any easier. Richt has Miami playing some damn good football, if he gets embarrassed in that game as well, the melt on this board will reach epic proportions.

I think you and I are on the same page here.
I'm of the opinion that this season is the high water mark in the O era. I had hopes of competing for the SEC before the year began.
The fact that it all came off the rails so fast has actually adjusted expectations for people whether they realize it or not. Now, not only do they expect to lose to Alabama, but going 9-3 is acceptable and a sign of progress.
We are more than likely going to be worse every year under Orgeron as his ability to maintain/lure genius coordinators is not a sustainable long-term plan when combined with the steady loss of elite and experienced players.
Basically, I'll be stoked to beat Bama and as always, I hope I'm wrong. But everything that happens at this point just seems like changing the shingles on a roof while the kitchen is on fire.

These are the strawman builders who have to go hyperbolic on everything because that's the only way they can win a debate.
First, we're not beating Bama this year and it wouldn't have mattered who the head coach is. I won't criticize Orgeron for this loss. If the team plays respectably I'll give him points for that.
Troy should not have happened period. I will criticize Orgeron for this and he deserves it. I'm not talking about whatever may or may not have happened behind the scenes. He's the head coach and that's reason enough to blame him.
Where Orgeron can redeem himself in my eyes will be in how the 2018 recruiting class comes together... But right now its not looking good.

Lose to Alabama, 9-3 and he’ll be ok.
Lose to Alabama, 8-4 and another team, he will be on hot seat again.

Shitty part is if we finish like this, everyone will just be thinking about how we should be 10-2.
That loss to Troy will never disappear. What a shame.
