During this season and last season both RM and Barca have dropped at least 3 points to sides that were newly promoted.

Win El Clasico in the Bernabeu, and do no worse than draw at Camp Nou, and now that 8 point lead is 5 or 2. Take care of Atletico both times and hope they get the draw at Camp Nou, and now that is either 2 or +1. It's easier said than done, but not like they have the title locked up yet, it's only been 10 matches and Real hasn't played one completely healthy yet.

RM can cut that gap to two by just beating Barca, then all bets are off.
