If he wins out, does he get a contract extension? Does he deserve one so far?

No extension for 3 years. Remember, that's how long it's going to take him to recruit the players he needs. Can't decide on an extension until then.

no extentions for any coach ever. Make them coach year to year and earn it. and certainly no buyouts!!!

Even IF he wins out, I don’t think he should receive one, simply for the fact that an extension would indicate that he’s shown a a pattern that this program is in the right direction and one year is simply not enough time to base anything on. It shouldn’t be a reward for a good season, or for fighting through adversity, and I like The O monster, and want him to be very successful here at LSU. I just don’t think it’s what a contract extension should be about.

Let’s just focus on winning out for now though.

You can't have year to year contracts due to recruiting. No recruit worth a damn will ever come here if that were the case.

Losing to Troy doesn't earn you an extension

If he wins out he gets a statue. Shirtless, eating a chicken on a stick. I'll put in money for it.

No.

We need at least two/three seasons, development and recruiting under O before Alleva allows that to happen. He already gave 12mil guaranteed and to keep Aranda/Canada through 2020, we’ll need to pony up for them. I feel like O would rather make sure his staff is taken care of first.

Exactly. You give a coach an extension/raise to keep him happy and keep other schools from stealing him. Call me crazy, but I'm not sure Orgeron will have a ton of suitors, even if he wins out.

On the other hand, Canada and Aranda...

You're not off to a great start.

Why extend a contract with 4 years remaining?
