Only thing that's different is the top of that one isn't tilted to the left like the one the Templars did in Dommes and the one they found. That could be a good explanation though. I'm certainly not educated on the subject enough to know.

Pretty interesting how the Egyptian symbol, the Templar Cross, and the Jewish Tree of Life all look so similar and seem to overlap a lot in history. As Christianity spread, pagans from all over the world also incorporated the cross into their own iconography. If it is medieval or older, it could blow the current understanding of North American history out of the water.

I thought taking the parchment and leather to the old book expert was interesting as hell. Especially when they added in the stuff about the purple dye. All of that together is pretty good evidence that they could have something significant down there. At the least, very old.

Did it bother anyone else that they were handling what they claimed to be a 2,000 yr-old Egyptian parchment without gloves? Also, I would have expected 2,000 yr old parchment to look a lot more ancient...

I wondered about the gloves as well.

The Egyptians were using it long before Christians. Their use of it dates back 2000 years before Christianity.

I'm expecting a good episode tonight. I hope it isn't a letdown.

Someone needs to tell Rick that it's ok to trim his eyebrows. Those things look lethal.

Yeah, ended up being a pretty weak episode after all. Broken teeth on the cason (however you spell it) was extremely anti-climactic.

Hooked on show, but what bothers me is it could have just been orginally a dug hole in the ground, maybe for well water. All the objects found could have easily been thrown or dropped down the well-hole. Then one day long ago, someone starts the rumor there was treasure found in it.

These past two episodes have been turds, especially the most recent one where all they did was rehash everything that's happened potentially pertaining to the Templars; strictly a filler episode with no updates on anything going on on the island. I didn't like the way the last episode ended either, with an obvious focus on "maybe the real treasure is information". Anyone else feel like we're about to be let down?

Yep. The last two episodes were pretty much filler. The last one in particular was useless. It was basically a season recap. I didn't even watch the whole thing. The next episode should cover some new ground, however.

Haven't various parties been digging on the island for something like 50 years and no one has found much of anything yet?

The whole thing was a scam from the mid-1800s. There were newspaper ads where you could "donate" to the recovery effort in exchange for a percentage of the treasure. The kids that dug the original hole found wood, the "regularly spaced timber platforms" were lies from those subscription offers. It amazes me that people keep falling for it.

They keep using this phrase. And the word "evidence".

“It would not be impossible to prove with sufficient repetition and a psychological understanding of the people concerned that a square is in fact a circle. They are mere words, and words can be molded until they clothe ideas and disguise.”

Have they found anything significant? I stopped watching in season 3. I rely on you people to spoil it for me if something crazy happens.

So does the new History Channel show "Curse of Civil War Gold" with the Laginas mean that they have moved on from Oak Island?

Pieces of pottery 200ft below the surface!! Marty and the team take it to the war room to discuss the next move.

That's what I read into it. I suppose it's possible, however, that they simply added a show to fill the between seasons of Oak Island.
