"How the hell have they drug you through" 13 seasons of Supernatural?

Looking forward to tonight’s episode.
Me too.
I get the criticism of this show and honestly, even I doubt that they will ever find anything. But I still watch mostly because those two damn brothers just seem like really likable guys who obviously care deeply for each other and their friends.

There is no evidence that "Long, Long Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away" there was a battle involving Jedi, yet MILLIONS of people have "drug" through many episodes and spent a LOT more money doing so than those watching Oak Island.
Why? Because even if they may not believe that it is true, some find it entertaining.
For those who don't like it, I suggest you try the button on the remote that changes the channel.

A split piece of 8 could be very good for dating early visitors to the island because past a certain point in history, that is worthless and the practice stopped completely.

Man, they are finding a LOT of breadcrumbs. That cut coin is unique and very interesting.

Interesting facts about Spanish coins:
LINK
Summary:
- Before 1732 Spanish coins in the New World were hand stamped with irregular shapes. After that year they were made with a press.
- Spanish coins were the common currency in colonial America. There were no coins minted here then, because there was very little, if any, gold and silver.
- Spanish coins were brought to the colonies by smugglers and pirates. The colonists preferred the Spanish coins over British coins.
The Laginas have found both British and Spanish coins on the island. It is possible that they were all left by British colonists. The island may have been used by the British as a military base of some sort. Whether or not it was used by Spanish pirates before the British is still unknown, but perhaps we will get more indication of what went on at Oak Island by the end of this season.

I like the show and enjoy watching it but never understand people that do not and have to come tell others their opinion especially now that we are on season 5. Not sure why it concerns them at this point.

The Golden Age of Counterfeiting
So basically the practice of coin clipping was largely stopped in the mid 17th century. If that is truly a clipped piece of 8, that should date people on the island very early in colonial times. Not very likely a clipped coin would have remained in circulation much past 1700.
quote:
In 1662, therefore, England began using machines to give coins milled edges, like the ridges that appear on modern dimes and quarters, which make it easier to spot clipped coins. But the older pieces remained in circulation until the end of the century, and they continued to be clipped. According to one estimate, by 1695, clippers had reduced the old handmade coins to about half of their original weight, the rest of the gold and silver circulating in an underground economy. It took a systematic revaluation of the currency, with all the old hand-minted coins removed from circulation, to solve the problem.

Serious question/sidetrack...does anybody see the Incans/Mayans as miners or refiners? The amount of gold from the old world was massive. Is it possible that alchemy was actually possible at one point?

No, alchemy is not possible. You cannot change lead into gold.

Actually. You can. But the process is extremely expensive compared to the small amount of gold that it makes.
