Looks like I'm replacing outside unit and attic air/heat unit. Anyone setup a XV18 variable speed lately and can share the cost? NOLA area btw.

Usually the cost is around $2,200 per ton for new construction for a Goodman brand, which is Trane's builders model.

Not enough info. Electric heat or gas heat? What size? Install as well?

I had a 5 ton Trane, outside and attic gas heat installed in February. Had all new ductwork put in along with electronic dampers. We have a 2 story house and differential heating and cooling with one unit. Electronic dampers solved all that. New gas lines put in, new cement pad outside, 2 new nest thermostats.

For $7,600 for a 14 SEER Trane 5 ton and all the extras. But in Houston so probably cheaper along with most everything else.

Goodman is not a Trane brand. Ameristar is Tranes builders line.
American Standard is the manufacturer for Trane and Ameristar.
Goodman is an Amana brand and was just sold to Daikin which is a Chinese company

I had a buddy in Metairie that bought an American Home shield warranty for 500 bucks and they replaced his entire AC unit for the cost of the deductible. He bought in and filed the claim 3 days later.

Mr. DP says the unit itself is $4000. How much a company marks it up and charges for installation is out of his area of expertise.

Confirmed, AC's are necessary in October is SELA. A ceiling fan offers only so much.

Insurance Fraud. It's technically not a warranty but mechanical breakdown insurance.
