Did he fumble? Yep, but I can't imagine having to call these folks and speak to them about their recently deceased family. Family that I had sent into harms way. We all know Trump is not polished or smooth like Obama or Clinton, but anyone who believes he said that in order to hurt those folks is full of shite.

"he knew what he signed up for ...but when it happens it hurts anyway,"
It's essentially saying "death is a part of war, but it still is a tragedy"

Context...it's what's for dinner.

Really poor phrasing if that was his intended message.
He could have phrased it better but I don't think he was being flip about the death which I think is the implication.

Shitty OP. No surprise from FT though

No frick you. I fought in more than one war and knew exactly what could happen....... but went anyway. The quote chopping trying to make his words to a grieving widow making him look bad.
Makes you look worse.

frick him. Indefensible.
Well, I'm not going to rely on the secondhand word of the democrat representative speaking for the widow.

I’d like to think I don’t need to preface anything with an “even though I can’t stand the president,” but this seems like a cheap political shot. It was honestly probably more along the lines of “your husband went bravely into this situation. He knew what he signed up for and did it anyway.” I wouldn’t advise releasing these recorded calls on account of what the families suffer, but someone should clarify. I honestly won’t buy that he’s that callous or cynical.

Consider the source.
Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-Miami Gardens
She allegedly “overheard” him say this eavesdropping on someone elses conversation. Not buying it, sorry.
Fake news.

You honestly believe that is all he said in that sentence. I pity you if you do.

I mean as bad as a lot of Trump's quotes can be, I doubt he wandered up to a widow and just said the equivalent of "shite happens" and went on his way.
Either way, the quote is going to play well in anti-Trump circles.

I did not take that as the implication. I took it as an implication that Trump can be goon when he speaks. Now at other times, he is definitely being flip. But I doubt he was here

Thanks for this statement, bro.
You are a good dude.

It's an absolute tribute to The Man.
He knew the cost, but decided that it was his duty, because he had the ability.
I guess they will argue about Trump's tonne inflection?

No, moron, cue up idiots starting threads without the whole statement so their little snowflake friends can get all giddy about a perceived slight.
Like you.

I agree with this.

Not gonna click your link but I'll go out on a very short limb and say this is out of context.
