Automobile question: (gas/engine issues)

Ok, i got up this morning to head to work(i know, trashy), and when i started the car, it would start up, but then die. So i started it up, but kept the gas pedal a little down and it would stay going.
But, anytime i let off the gas, it would die.
Car hadn't been moved in almost 3 1/2 weeks(vacation), and only had a 1/2 tank of gas. Also, it was pretty nipply here this morning.
I think the gas in vehicle since sitting, got the shite in bottom of tank in it, and i might have something clogged in fuel line, or something like that.
And no, it's not the flux capacitor.
Had to drive it back home from work, when ever i needed to stop,i just put it in neutral, kept a little gas going to it, then back into drive to take off.
Dropping it off to get looked at 2morrow, but wondering things it might be.

Intake Air Valve, also known as idle air control valve.
I see you have already put it in the shop, but you can run some Royal Purple fuel system cleaner through it to clean out fuel injector deposits, etc., but I'm betting it's the valve I'm referring to.
I had a vehicle that would die at low speed or idle, but run fine after goosing the gas. Very scary in stop-and-go traffic on a freeway. It was the intake air control valve.

Do you have a check engine light on?

EGR has cracked hose or PCV elbow cracked/worn or came unplugged.

The year, make, model & engine would help.

And how are you so sure of this?

Blown Johnson rod. Gonna need new ball bearings and likely a fresh tank of 30 weight oil.

I am currently going through a nightmare on a Ford Escape 3.0 V6.
Stutter at 45 mph after overdrive kicked in/torque converter locks up and rough idle. Check engine light occasionally on and codes showing misfire at startup and on three different cylinders.
Have changed spark plugs, coils, throttle position sensor (a bitch to get off because Ford put Locktite on the screws as they go through its plastic housing) and crankshaft sensor.
All to no avail!
But TODAY the emissions light was red with "EV" flashing on my handheld code reader, and now I'm betting it's the vapor purge valve/solenoid failing due to me overfilling my gas tank.
