Yeah no. Clemson still controls its destiny. There isn't a realistic scenario where they win out but miss the playoffs

There's a loss in there.

Exactly, and even if there isn’t they’ll still need to get through the ACC championship, most likely Miami.

The conference isn’t remotely a Clemson lock.

OU was a 31-point favorite at home. Clemson was a 22.5-point favorite on the road.

I don't think Clemson is out but if it came down to choosing between one loss conference champions they're not guaranteed in. Syracuse could very well end the year unranked. If the other 4 spots are occupied by teams with 0 losses or one loss to ranked teams.

Come on. Not even if all 4 teams are undefeated?

Not likely but if Syracuse ends the year 6-6 that's still a pretty bad loss compared to teams with teams with a close ranked loss.

No, but that's not realistic.

They do if Bama, Penn State, Udub and TCU are all undefeated.

Penn State
OU
Georgia
Washington
TCU
Wisconsin
Wazzu

And Ohio State aren't better than Clemson.

It's crazy to drop Clemson out of the top 10. Hell even the top 5.

It's not impossible. Again if you're comparing a one loss Clemson team to another one loss team that lost to a ranked team, Clemson isn't 100% guaranteed to get in. This could easily end up being a bad loss for Clemson.

Three things:

Clemson is overrated.

Parity reigns in college football.

It is completely unfair that Clemson can lose one game and people say they are still a contender but a team like a Michigan State or Notre Dame loses once and they are out. In my mind Notre Dame should be rated higher than Clemson. One point loss to Georgia is better than losing to the Cuse.

sure its not impossible, but for all those teams to go undefeated is very unrealistic (I can get the actual number, but doesn't take a genius to see that it's going to be less than 1%)

Clempsoning is back. CFP teams don't lose to Syracuse. Clempson will clempson their way to another loss after this one.

All of this talk sounds exactly as it did last year around this time. That was after Clemson struggled with Troy, lucked out against NC State, and lost to Pitt. Still a long way to go and Dabo rallies his teams well. That team was sleepwalking through last night's game. Unrecognizable.

Forget that. Syracuse is a bad loss. They are not one hundred percent guaranteed in with that loss when compared to other teams whose only loss was a close one to a ranked team. I'm not saying they wouldn't get in, all I'm saying is that it's not a guarantee.

I see that Clemson is getting a pass on Gameday this morning. That was a bad loss to Syracuse. Clemson goes to the back of the line for one loss teams, well, Wazzu is behind them. OSU, UM, MSU, Notre Dame, UVA, etc, all ahead of Clemson.
