Hole in da Wall Shoutout - Carlton's

I just wanted to start a thread for "Hole in the Wall" type places.
If any of you are ever in Central around lunch or supper time, check out Carlton's on Hooper. Great seafood, killer burgers and without a doubt, the best Oyster Po-boy in the BR area.
What y'all got?

Well I'm eating a Dixie Maid cheeseburger and chocolate shake in my truck typing this and it's a pretty darn good burger. I've passed Carltons and will try next time I'm in the area. Had a plate lunch at David's on Joor and I guess that's Hooper the other day. Pretty good.
Hope all is well.

Seafood Gumbo and Fried fish is good also. The tartar sauce is the best around. Boiled Shrimp are hard to peel.

All well my friend, thanks.
Carlton Lagrange is the owner, long time caterer as well. He does it right!!

Don't forget his Wednesday steak special for lunch.

I stop there all the time when I'm heading up to East Feliciana and grab a bite. I knew James and Jeannie and said hello to Craig the other day. First time I've stopped in since James died a few months ago. They do a good job.
I know that Carlton Lagrange name from somewhere. I'll stop in and check him out.
And who has the tartar sauce posted above? I make my own and don't like it sweet.

East Feliciana shooting
I might not be visiting my place for a bit. Haven't see old Jeff or Harry in a long time. Last I heard Harry was in the jug or had just gotten out.

I live in your neck of the woods these days.
I grab some fried shrimp and oysters once a week from Carltons.

Hey bro, I remember you. I am sill in the same place, stop by sometime. Still working on my house, it is a construction zone.
I went to Shucks for an Oyster Po-boy a while back and was greatly dis-appointed (as typical most any place in BR). Carlton's is easily the best.

Stop in to Carlton's often. Great food that is most importantly consistent. There boiled crawfish are probably some of the better I've had short of doing it myself, and yes that burger is great.

I have never been impressed with the food at Carltons. Their poboy bread is soft, like a hoagie bun. Shrimp are usually small on their poboys as well. And lastly, I had their boiled crawfish twice. They were tiny and terribly underseasoned. I stopped going back after the third or fourth time of bad food.
Maybe they deserve another chance, but I never liked their food.

I heard carltons is really good. I grew up in Central off Gurney so that is my old stomping grounds.
The David's are some nice folks. Mr David ran a tight ship and was saddened to hear of his death. Is Ms Camille still working there?

I've never eaten at the Carton's restaurant, but I used his large scale crawfish boil catering for quite a few years. His group always did a good job; lots of staff, polite, efficient, and the quality was fine. If you need to throw a crawfish boil for 500 or 1000, he's your guy.

I need to try it again - I don't remember what I had the one time I had it. I think I liked it, but it doesn't stick out in my mind anymore. My family likes it, but it's one of those things where there are so few restaurants in Central that anything decent is going to have people raving, so you never know.

Willowmore Dr in the back. I was friends with the Lavesperes that lived on the corner and went to church with the Gremillions.
