Gun control vs. "Literally Hitler"

Can someone explain to me how the same group of people that think Trump wants to embolden ICE to round up illegals and put them in camps along with gays and Muslims, would also support disarming the citizens at risk of those potential actions?
This isnt a gotcha question, and I dont want a bunch of attacks on the left. What is their actual train of thought?
They adhere to the ideas of big government and fully embrace that WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY and randomly practicing the skepticism and distrust of the government that has been a hallmark of conservatives since 1776.
I can promise you this: if America ever found itself with its very own Hitler, he would be the product of the left.

I've seen multiple stories of SJW's buying guns and training now that Trump is in office because they fear tyranny. I'd bet that this time last year they were crying because guns weren't banned.
