I've heard the number of people at the festival is 22,000. Is that the attendance for the entire festival, or specifically for Jason Aldean's performance? 22,000 seems like a lot for just Jason Aldean.

Bonnaroo is a festival. It unfolds over days. 6 bands playing in one night is a concert.

Aldean is probably top 5 male country artists anyways.

Don't think 22K is really shocking at all.

How many people were in attendance when the shooting occurred? Is it 22,000?

22,000 is nothing. Kenny Chesney sold more than 50,000 by himself in Auburn, AL.

We have an annual outdoor concert here that routinely draws 80,000 +. Granted, its held in a huge park, but with how tightly packed Route 41 looked it may not have been able to hold a lot more than 22k

No. Aldean and Bryan often do stadiums. You also have to remember, Aldean wasn't the only performer on the bill.

How many people go to bayou country super fest? Seems like 22k would be easy to achieve in vegas.

It was a 3 day festival. I think that 22,000 was the attendance for all 3 days.

The way the media keeps repeating the 22k figure I think they're referring to the entire festival. Also based on videos it doesn't look like 22k were there at the time of the shooting. Maybe 10k or so.

How could the media be so certain how many people were there for Aldean? It's more logical that 22k was the number of tickets sold and attendance for the entire event.

You are probably right on there only being 22k "tickets" sold, which is where the media likely drew that number. Almost every weekend music festival I've been to only sells full weekend passes, not day passes. When you check in on Friday you receive a plastic wristband that you keep on your wrist all weekend.

Well if I'm going to go to attend a concert full of performances, unless I absolutely cannot stand the final performer and those I'm with share the same view, I'm going to stay for it. In fact, I may stay anyways, because why not? And the experience itself usually makes the music better anyways.

But usually concerts have artists (especially genre based) who are similar enough that people enjoy them all, and obviously the last artist is usually the most popular anyways.

But despite all of that, Jason Aldean is a big name, and 22,000 is not all that large. It's not much bigger than basketball arena concert venues (maybe similar), which habe concerts all the time, it's the size of the major amphitheater in Ohio (and the one that shutdown) who put on a lot concerts in the outdoor season, and it's way smaller than the stadium concert venues.

In other words, unless you've never gone to a major concert, I don't know why would think that seems like a lot.

I just hope you're out one of those snotty "I only like artists before they're popular, so I can only go to artists who are in small venues, where I can share with true music lovers with refined tastes. But as soon as they become successful and mainstream, they've sold out. So they're music sucks like all the rest, even if it's the same music."

My wife is a Hall and Oates fan (they do his a lot of good songs). So on a random Tuesday in May, we went to the OSU basketball arenas to see Hall and Oates with Tears for Fears opening. Both were big in their prime, 30+ years ago. And it was pretty packed, probably 15,000 maybe more.

So if a random Tuesday in Columbus, OH, for bands 30 years past their peak could draw that many, there is no way Jason Aldean only had 10,000 in Las Vegas, and with other current stars performing before him.

I'm not a huge country fan, but I've been to probably 10ish concerts, and each one has been at least twice that size, and one was in Browns Stadium and completely packed, so probably 50 or 60 thousand.
