Oh I’m sure Les would have reeled him in for sure. Jesus, let it go and support the program. Downing it on the recruiting board isn’t helping anything

Not downing it. At least we ensure Brennan the starting gig

Georgia is frickING STACKED at QB. Holy shite.

Anyone who got their hopes up about this kid when it was always a long shot anyway is a fricking dope

Isn't Canada one of the main reasons Fields considered LSU?
Posted on 10/6/17 at 10:48 am to The Pirate King
Did not realize he was highly regarded in baseball as well.

Did we really have a chance?
Dude took like 100000000 visits to Georgia and 1 visit to lsu.
Anyone that thinks we had a shot is dumb.

miles wouldn't have reeled him in either. kid was a dawg from the word go. fsu was only legit threat. made more sense for him to go to another school. but Kirby brought his bagman to Athens. (at least that what uga fans tell me)

Surprised? LSU is a trainwreck

And if there had been more visits, our chances would have likely gone up.
For someone like this, to have a real shot there likely had to be follow up visits. At least that would have been an indication he was weighing one against the other.
Without a follow up visit, it's more of a confirmation that his initial choice was the one he's sticking with.

Yep, but only 1 can play at a time.

So with some coaches, some "selling", some truly believing it, the idea of you can come in and compete as a freshman, become the starter, and do your thing is, for one, becoming more prevalent, and secondly actually happening more and more often.
With that in mind for some recruits the stacked roster is less of an issue. Not all recruits, but some that isn't the biggest issue anymore. To add to that, Fields said he doesn't mind sitting and learning.
Immediate playing time wasn't the biggest thing on his mind. The ability to learn was. Therefor stability of the staff would be a big issue. You don't get more well rounded (OL coach, QB coach, OC, TE coach, etc) than Jim Chaney.
"stable" is the last word that comes to mind when you mention LSU. We're calling for the OC's head (after 5 games), the AD's head, the HC's head, the OL coaches head, the DL coach should be fired for not traveling for recruiting, the GM's head, etc etc. Fire everybody, now. It is what it is. Even if Fields saw potential of learning under Canada, is he even going to be here after 6 games? 12 games?
ETA: oh, btw, don't be shocked if TN stalls as long as possible before firing Butch then offers Chaney the HC gig.

Yes we had a chance. I know for a fact we did.
But the two programs are going in different directions.
Think about next year. Who’s our best WR? RB? And our O-Line is still going to be mediocre.
As it stands now. He made the right choice.
