My wife bought me a kindle 5 yrs ago and I've picked up the habit of reading for an hour every night. Its not hard to turn off the TV and read when all they have on are reality shows.
My ipad changed me. I hadn't been an avid reader except for vacations for probably 15 years. I would fall asleep most nights on the couch watching TV.
Got my ipad 5 years ago and pretty quickly switched to reading at night instead of TV. I like to stay up later than my wife, so the ipad makes it easy to read in the dark. I never sleep on the couch (on purpose) anymore and I can't remember the last time I even turned on the TV in the bedroom.
I typically stick to one book at a time along with an audiobook for my 2 hour roundtrip commute a few days a week.
