This is the 2nd time I'm asking you this now.

Are you trying to insinuate that all of those articles, from around the country, listing LSU as a top 10 job are somehow all LSU homers?

the program isn't going to get an Urban Myers to come here

We wouldn't have a Southeastern Conference if they kicked out everybody who didn't beat Alabama," McClendon said with a chuckle. "But people here aren't interested in what's gone on at other places . . . These people here will never stop. They think because it's LSU, it's the best there is. They better get out around the country and see what's going on."
Well then I guess since Bama is good, we'd better pack it all up. No sense in trying guys! It's Bama's NCAA! Alert the press, no more LSU football till Bama sucks again!
What a horseshite, loser attitude.
Oh, just because Bama is good means nobody else can be good and we should hire one of the worst coaches no only in SEC history but CFB history.

RB my friend, perhaps we have a disconnect on the meaning of "destination job." To me, "destination job" means a highest profile, most lucrative, and prestigious job that just about any ambitious coach would be salivating to take... even if it meant leaving a highly successful career elsewhere.
But frankly, today there are very few jobs that fit that description, and LSU isn't one of them. When the coach at Miss State makes more than the coach at LSU the upper tier but not elite program, such as LSU, does not merit being called "destination."
In my opinion, the belief that LSU is a program with an attraction close to equal to Alabama, Notre Dame, USC, Texas, is one of the things that has prevented LSU from getting a young gun.. because they don't even look...they simply believe that any coach, Jimbo, etc., will just jump at the chance to coach the Tigers. Ironically, the opposite of this, a willingness to accept a question mark young gun is what got LSU Coach Saban. Belief in the omnipotence of LSU football attraction is the hubris that eventually led to hiring "O."
Just my two bits...

I’d put those schools you listed and possibly Michigan, Ohio State, and maybe Penn State in the top tier of jobs.
I think LSU is easily in the next tier with Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, etc.

They don't come because no one is here to pay the bill for their salary and the job isn't a top 5 job.

Saying we aren't one of the best destinations for a college football coach is a loser mentality. And we settled for this.
People seem to be confused attributing failure to lure a top coach as the fault of the program.
The truth is that it is a historical anomaly for a proven elite coach to job hop. Either you take a risk on a rising coach or hire moderately successful coach hoping @ LSU he can be greater

I don't care what your definition is. Your odd hate of LSU is well known which makes your opinion of anything related to the school moot.
I'm asking if you think all of these national publications are delusional since they are the one's listing LSU has a top 10 job in the country.

Again, take it up with the writers of these national publications.

Your opinion means dick. You do understand that, right?

LSU got in a bidding war with two of the top 5 programs in the country, in terms of prestige, and you're using that to somehow come to the conclusion that LSU is not a top job despite the dozens of articles that say it is.
quote:
Just my two bits...
Again, means dick. Especially since you blatantly ignore evidence that shows your "two bits" are functionally ignorant.
Here's the truth:
In the last 20 years, only 3 programs have hired a coach who previously won a national title. Ohio State, Alabama and South Carolina (x2). Yet, none of them hired said coach away from another school. They either came from the NFL, or out of retirement. Funny enough, by your criteria of hiring "elite" coaches, South Carolina is the #1 destination job in the country. So, take a second to laugh at yourself for that one.
Only 3 programs have hired a proven, elite coach in the last 10 years. Ohio State, Alabama and Michigan, that is if you believe Harbaugh is elite. Yet again, none of them were hired away from another school.
LSU tried to do something that NO PROGRAM HAS DONE IN OVER TWO DECADES, and that is hire a national championship winning coach from another school, and they failed. That includes your beloved Alabama, by the way. Yet you're using that as some sort of proof that LSU is not a top 10 job in the country. This, Jacknola, is why you're viewed as a joke on this board and the SEC Rant.
Carry on.
