What are you guy’s opinion on Aranda?

It seems like a lot of you don’t like him a lot anymore or think he is overrated. Just wondering what you guys think.

The whole staff deserves all the blame we can pile on IMO

I think he benefited from seasoned players last year. He's a good D.C still but not the mad genius and miracle worker we were told he is.

He's human.
Once Thought he was superhuman. Nicknamed him "The Alien".
Now, he's a mere mortal.

Aranda is the only coach on this staff that I trust can do his job at an elite level. I will be surprised if he sticks around past this season.

He looked great with White, Adams, Beckwith and Riley.

Aranda has proven to be successful in the past. He has EARNED another chance. Someone else will scoop him up in a second if we let him go.

He’s been a great DC under several coaches, in several conferences, with varying levels of player talent and experience.
Even a great DC cannot overcome a toxic culture and a team that lacks motivation and discipline from its head coach.
I will lifetime ban bet he goes immediately back to being an elite DC when he’s not under Orgeron.

I think he's still elite, just limited by his personnel.

He is a very good coach with a VERY young defense right now. Throw in injuries and suspensions and it is a patchwork unit. They are on the field quite a bit which means more opportunities to be exposed. In short, a solid job given the circumstances imo.

I think he is in the process of checking out, as in he is probably realistic enough to see the train wreck that was LSU and is actively sending out feelers to other viable programs. Canada too. This is a career killer.

I only dog on him to illustrate that the defense sucks because of lack of talent on the line...
Aranda didn't forget how to coach....he doesn't have the players anymore and he's dealing with freshmen to play in key roles

The D position coaches need to step it up. Aranda isn't going to coach up an individual on fundamentals or nuances of a position. Great coordinator, great schemer.
Many would say he's "making the best of it". I agree. But since he's not capable of individual development, those position coaches are going to have to do more to make up for it and give him more [faster] than they have done so far.

quote:Insane. First of all, no competitive and prideful high-level coach is going to quit on himself, a team, and a program like that. They will see it as a challenge. Secondly, to do what you're suggesting is a career killer. "Oh, so you're having a tough time with young players at LSU so you're looking to bail. Great! Just what I was looking for, a coordinator who can't handle adversity or anything under the best talent anywhere. You know, someone from the John Chavis school of coaching".

His hands are tied imo.
We saw what he's capable of last year with a great unit.
This year- I mean what can he do. We have no depth right now, we are worn down at the end of every game. We don't have very good talent on the DL. We're young all over the field. And our supposed best player is fat and out of shape, and actually a liability on the field to the point that a supposed top ten pick is actually a bad player.
The offense doesn't do him any favors either to move the ball and keep the depleted and young defense off the field.

He's not earning his paycheck. He looked just as lost as O did last night

0, Canada and Aranda ran off or overestimated the abilities of the linemen on both sides of the ball and that is where blame must be applied. Physicality of a team is measured by the big boys up front and LSU has nearly zero in that regard.

Im starting to think that his success at Wisconsin was similar to Bert's. The conference was way down and he was in the easiest division. Which was a joke. Last year's LSU's schedule was weak as well; a 10 year low.
Similar to Missouri when they first arrived in the SEC east.
Wisconsin didnt play Ohio St but twice and gave up 30 and 59 and missed Michigan completely all 3 years and only played Penn St. once and gave up 31 to a rebuilding Penn St in 2013.
Last year at LSU, me and you couldve had success. With White/Jackson/Dwayne Thomas at the corners and Adams at Safety along with Duke and Beckwith at ILB and Godchaux/Key and Bower on the Line. Tremendous talent and leadership all over that Defense.
The defense is playing as poorly if not worse than the offense this year. Im not sure why Arranda isnt getting more blame than he is.
The "we're so young crap", should only be applied to SEC games. If anyone wants to make excuses for him or the Head Coach.
This defense against this non con-conference schedule is unacceptable.

He's one of the best DC in the country.
At this point though if he has to go to see major changes im ok with that.

The fact that even the defense looks bad tells you more about what's going on with the program as a whole than it does about Aranda. We need to hold on to that guy for as long as we can.
