I go to Midland for work probably every other month. It seems like a decent place to live, but it's a long way to drive anywhere else though.
Coworker of mine moved from Slidell to Midland about 2 years ago, and he and his family say they really like it.

I'm doing some research but nothing beats a local. What is it like?
Its not that bad of a place. It does get windy at times. Took me some time to get use to the area but its grown on me.

I guess in comparison to Saudi Arabia, but having lived there, it is the most boring place in America to live. You're a flight away from anywhere worth a damn. Watching paint dry is more entertaining than living in Midland.

The wind isn't even on the table when it comes to Midland. In Chicago it is, but there are 400 problems with living in Midland before you get to the fricking wind. There's nothing to do in that town, it's as expensive as frick, the dating pool is the single most shallow of any 50K plus people town in America, there's no bar/restaurant scene that doesn't involve steak, you have to fly to go anywhere, and a significant portion of the population are rich naturally violent rednecks who work on rigs.

Different strokes for different folks i guess. Im not into the dating scene so could care less about that. Yes apartments and houses are on the steep side.

Pretty sure Andrew, Texas home of 12,000 near Midland has a loop...

I will probably live in Midland one day and I don't think it seems that bad. Then again I already have a female.
