I'm saying our Qb play is terrible, he makes a few good plays a game, and if he wasn't white he'd be getting shite on.

Myles Breenan has nothing to do with this. Myles Brennan is a BETTER QB. is he ready? we'll let time tell. But theres no defensing the play of Etling. he's slow on reads, he can't make tight throws. he's not great at feeling pressure. He very much reminds me of a slightly better anthony jennings ( if Jennings was Average)

Just because we've had terrible QB play since Flynn/ Mett doesn't mean we should be happy with Etling.

Below is the question that was asked on a SPORTS message board

quote:

Who do you want as your starting QB? Brennan or Etling

And this is how you choose to respond

It was a simple question that YOU choose to complicate and/or take on a tangent. I don't actually want or care to know why, but it's a question you may need to ask your own self.

Etling is far from great, but he's also far from terrible. So far this year he's completing 58.4% of his passes; last year he was at 59.5%. He's averaged 8.2 yards/attempt at LSU. And he's thrown 14 picks in 346 passes. None of those numbers are excellent, but he's basically been fine.

So Brennan is better . . . but we need to let time tell if he's ready, so Etling might be better. Even if Brennan isn't ready though, there's no defense for playing Etling (even though he would be better if Brennan isn't ready, I'd assume). Alright, I'll admit it: I'm totally lost here.

Last year, Etling took 17 sacks. This year, he's taken 6. That's definitely too many, but it's not like he's being sacked 4 times a game. It's another aspect of playing QB at which he's basically acceptable, but nothing special.

If it weren't for this part, I wouldn't have even bothered responding to this post. Anthony Jennings career passer rating at LSU was 116.5. Danny Etling's is 138.8. Anthony Jennings never completed over 49% of his passes in a season for LSU. Danny Etling has completed over 59% of his passes for LSU. Etling is far superior to Jennings . . . which really isn't saying much, but it's still worth pointing out. I'm really confused though, when you add in the, "If Jennings was Average" part. Are you saying that Etling is slightly above average? Because earlier in your post you said our QB play is terrible. So which is it?

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this. I just don't think his whiteness has anything to do with it.

And then mentioned this:

It’s funny how winning the NC erased everyone’s memory of the Flynn vs Perilloux debate. Fans were constantly calling for Flynn to be pulled in 2007.
