Demps and Asik conspiring to commit insurance fraud isn't enough to make it happen. They need to convince independent doctors he's unhealthy enough to ever play again, a judgement which wouldn't take into consideration whether he's talented enough to ever play again.

guess i wasn't thinking of that. I'm not a fraud kind of guy. Hopefully he gets to medically retire, gets healthy, and lives happily every after, while we don't have his albatross of a contract anymore.

Yeah, just at a bare minimum to pull it off, you would probably need a medical staff that had a bit of a spotty history, maybe misdiagnosing injury probabilities, ones that led to trading an all defensive big man for pennies on the dollar.
Thankfully the Pelicans organization doesn't have that problem.
