Comparing Saban's Binder to Ponamsky's Binder

Just found Saban's 2001 LSU defensive playbook. Haven't seen it in several years. But yes, I'm "blown away" by the sense of detail.
I'd hoped from the beginning that Ponamsky's Binder--it's not ghostwritten, Ponamsky's name is on the cover--would be made public. It would tell a lot about Alleva, since it "blew him away."
I'd like to see:
How detailed are the plans? Did it have SPECIFIC steps to get from A to B OR was it just general bullshite like "we will win a national championship"?
My guess is the latter. A picture of the cover and an introductory page was posted on here right after O got the permanent job.
My guess is, Alleva's gushing over the binder was to push the narrative that O was his man all along to cover up being played by Herman and no plan B.
It would be intriguing to read it in detail and see exactly what it was that "blew Alleva away."

Never seen that before, but not surprised. Im sure O's includes alot of brovado with no substance....like our offense. Probably cliche's like "one team one heartbeat" and goals such as winning an sec championship by year 3

Wow. From Saban in 2001:
Game Day Professionalism: Never Talk to Opposing Players
a. Poor examples of game day professionalism would be fighting, poor language, loss of poise or immature display of enthusiasm. All demonstrations of Tiger enthusiasm will be team things. We do not need "hot dogs" or "trash talkers." Fighting, stupid personal fouls and poor game day discipline are real indicators of a losing attitude. We are going to be winners!

Pretty routine stuff in modern football actually.

If you truly believe that, you are a fool. All coaches at the LSU level are very detailed planners. If you had bothered to read the "Saban" piece you would have noticed that it if full of sloganeering, cliche's and cheerleading..

Seems Saban places an emphasis on working hard and preparing through hard work. O seems to take the opposite approach to practice less and sit in the air condition and watch film. It may work. Time will tell but I know Saban's approach works.

Who would have thought the football coach has a better binder than a radio talk show co-host.

5 national titles at two different schools would differ with you.

These two things are not mutually exclusive.

You really want to compare an actual playbook with what is essentially a job interview presentation? And to the defensive playbook of a defensive minded head coach who is considered by many, if not most, to be the greatest head coach in NCAA history?

I’d like to know how many players read that whole thing

If you study all the successful coaches, the one thing in common is attention to detail. You want to know why O wasn't successful at Ole Miss and likely won't be here?
You guessed it.
You guessed it.
