What proof do you have that Walmart grease monkeys are better than Take 5 grease monkeys
You can tell just by the services offered though. At Take 5, they just hire anyone who can change oil, which is basically any and everyone.
At Wal-Mart, they offer a lot more services. Not saying they require a ton of skill, but it's a lot more than directing a car to pull up and stop in the right spot so they can change your oil.
Although, I may be selling you Take 5 guys a little short. Y'all have to fix refreshments sometimes too. I apologize Mr. Take 5 grease monkey guy.

You pay $70 to get your oil changed at a dealership???
I never pay more than $40 at my Jeep dealership. And that includes them rotating the tires when needed and doing a basic inspection of fluid levels, etc.
ETA: I just go to mopar website prior to going and print off online coupon. You put in the location of dealership and they show you coupons for that location. They always have some sort of $40 oil change deal on there. FYI.

How the hell did I become a Take 5 guy by asking you that question? LOL
I rarely go to Take 5 because it's too expensive and they try to upsell too much.
I do hate white trash Walmart though

A Walmart on the west bank poured oil into my fuel injection system. Then they had the guy who did it drive me home. Awkward!

It takes me less time to change my oil than taking it somewhere. Plus I know it's dine right. The last time they messed something up on my car was the last time I took it in.

Just messing around with you man. I have been to both and can say without a doubt the guys at Take 5 are borderline ruhtards. Also, like you said, their bullshite wannabe upselling tactics are annoying.
I'm not saying Wal-Mart employees are geniuses, just saying that, in general, their vehicle service department is a little better and more knowledgeable than Take 5 people. They also offer a lot more services than just a simple oil change.

Meh. You have to go buy the oil and filter.
It's about 30 minutes from when I start to pull things out until I finish changing oil.
Then you have to take the oil somewhere to dispose of it.
Good for you that you enjoy it.
I still cut my own grass while most I know pay someone. Thats one of those things I don't mind doing and it feels good to not pay $35 to $40 a week.

Yeah I am in this camp. Even with putting the car up on stands and rotating the tires it is at best 1/2-1hr even if you take your time.
Also, if you use synthetic oil the markup at the quickie places/dealerships is pretty high. You're not getting a synthetic change for $29.95 or $40.
So, for the same (or less) money and the same (or less) time i like to do it myself.

I don't mind paying a tad more as my time is worth much more... Take 5 is well worth the price in that regard.
I also don't need some dealership or some dude who thinks he's a mechanic that I need $1300 in normal wear and tear repairs.

There's a place near my house that does oil changes for $35 I'm about 10 minutes. Don't even get out of the car. Pull over the grease pit, they start draining while they ask you what kind of oil you want. By the time they run your credit card they are finished.
Takes longer than that to go buy oil and a filter. And I only save a few dollars doing it myself.
It's good to know how to do it but it's honestly a waste of time for me. I only do it if they are closed.
