re: Massive Reduction in Piped-In Music

The problems with CFB these days, for us at least, is that we've gone away from playing prominent non conference teams. Alleva would rather make $3-4m for just showing up to a neutral site instead of having home and homes. There was a lot more excitement built up for hosting teams like Virginia Tech, Arizona, Washington than Directional State U. I couldnt even give my NEZ tickets away Saturday night. I spent 20 minutes looking for a father/son looking to go.

True our schedule is kind of hit or miss at times. But we aren't the only SEC school that seems to depend on neutral site games to get decent OOC oppenants.

I know a lot of schools do it now, it just sucks. It's easier for them to make a quick buck without having to host a game.

I love the old farts in here wanting the game experience catered around them instead of the students and players . If you don't like it get rid of your tickets and we might get some people in the stadium that won't leave at halftime. The people that are first to leave the games are the people with tickets in between the 30 yard lines.

But they are trying to get people to show up with things like the Skyline club and such. The fact is that this will be a trend until LSU plays Auburn on the 14th of October.
The Skyline Club is an interesting idea for sure, especially for people who want premium options but may not be able to bankroll for a suite. Not sure how much it will help for these trash games though because once the game started on Saturday, the Skyline Club didn't look half full.
To your second point, this trend doesn't have to continue. We open the season with Miami in Dallas next year, then have non-conference home games against Southeastern, LaTech, and RICE. Now this terrible schedule trend does get better after that with home-and-home series against Texas (2019 & 2020) and UCLA (2021 & 2024). But geez... LSU hasn't hosted a P5 OOC team since Washington in 2012.These games are snoozers and not worth the ~$100 I spend on a season ticket, per game.
And I get it... when LSU plays in neutral site games like Houston or Dallas they receive a really nice check for doing so and in today's college football, recruiting is always at the forefront of decisions like these. However, think about the economic impact for BR if Wisconsin or Miami were to have been true home games - thousands of hotel room nights, hundreds of thousands of dollars spent in restaurants and bars, several thousand dollars spent in airfare and transportation. Tiger Stadium is one of the most venerable venues the game of football is played at, much better than most other college or NFL locations.

Thanks Captain Obvious. That game hasn't happened yet, hence why I mentioned Washington.
*Side note: Syracuse lost at home to Middle Tennessee on Saturday and have to play Central Michigan this weekend (who beat the brakes off of Kansas). So, we're potentially looking at a bottom 1/3 ACC team who could potentially be 1-2 coming into Tiger Stadium.

People don't want to hear it, but starting any later than about 5:30 is a terrible idea with respect to attendance for anything but a marquee game.
The total time investment with traffic and TV run-times has made the "traditional" 7pm start time a complete non-starter.
I'd guess 4th quarter attendance would have been a lot higher this week if game kicked at 4pm.

Struck a nerve there didn't I .

Personally when at home during that opening part, I mute the TV and blast CCR - Born on The Bayou...

Maybe if we played a BYU at home instead of neutral people would stick around longer.

Not at all. Just a dumb response.

You're whining we don't have p5 opponents at home when the next home game is a p5 opponent. It was just a dumb statement by you.

They just don't know any better.

I hope this continues. Maybe O's Louisiana heritage is having an influence on the stadium atmosphere. LSU has always had one of the most unique stadium experiences and I would love to see that recaptured.

Let's take a second and reevaluate. When I talk about P5 OCC opponents, I'm talking about middle to top third of a conference - not a bottom feeder like Syracuse, who (since 2012) has an overall 27-37 record (.421 winning percentage) and a conference record of 14-25 (.359 winning percentage). 'Cuse hasn't played in a bowl game since 2012.
That would be like a Clemson, Ohio St., Michigan, Oklahoma, USC playing a Kentucky or Vanderbilt or Missouri and beating the brakes off them and boasting "Shite yes! We just beat the SEC!"
So that's what I'm bitching about. Just because they're in a P5 doesn't make them a true P5-caliber opponent.

You old fool. Hip Hop is played across America and the players and students love it.
The black ones that are in a huge minority do, yes.
This isn't the Essence Festival or HBCU game they enjoy shooting people at their events as well.
Let the bands play, that's LSU tradition and our way.

I've always felt that if you have a band there's no reason at all for piped in music. I'd rather hear tiger rag and other songs related to LSU over and over again instead of some piped in music that I can hear on the radio or on my own.
