I had less of a clue what to expect and really nothing would surprise me.

If we came out looking like world beaters with a great new offense and young guys flying around on defense I won't be shocked. If we came out and struggled vs a stacked box and play like we did last year vs Wisc I wouldn't be surprised either.

Usually I know the 3 deep at every position and expectations for each spot. This season feels totally opposite. Don't have a clue who's eligible to play or how good the guy filling in is.

It feels very different this year, but I'm excited and they'll def be a lot to talk about next week!

I agree. I honestly believe this game will look like last night's OSU and Indiana game. Flat and jitters in the first half, pull away in the second.

Les is gone. LSU will roll BYU.

Right there with ya man. The only thing I expect is Russell Gage turning into a star. I think he just has the it factor. Forget his ranking coming out of high school.

Man I hope we don't come out flat. No excuse for that game 1

I hope so and would probably agree if not for the fact we've had 11 transfers and 5-8 suspensions for this game. I don't have a clue

I think Gage was a 4 star composite.

He was a 3 star.

Have you ever watched football? It's quite common for a team to not be clicking on all cylinders in their first game of the season. Throwing in a new offense, some injuries and transfers and suspensions and it's definitely plausible

That's way different than flat. Flat is emotionally not caring to be there.

Agree with this post.
It will take time before everything hits on all eight. That would happen with any team. I feel BYU will be good enough to make us work for what we get so a really good first test not our typical warm up.
Hopefully we're close by Miss State

I hope you're right, but first game jitters have to do with the way the players feel, it's nothing to do with the game plan. Urban Meyer is a great coach and look what happened during the first half last night.

That only happens when you're in I-form every play. We've moved on.

That game should tell you a lot. Those teams that are out matched have to really fight all game to even try to stay with the more talented teams. The better teams with good coaching, can score easy TDs, which gets into the heads of the other teams. Now if the better team runs an offense that helps the weaker team stay in the fight, then they can beat the more talented team or the weaker team can stay with the more talented team the entire game. I saw this too many times previously. It was painfully obvious that LSU was the talent superior team but the opponent would stay with us anyway. After playing like this for a long period of time, LSU loses that advantage and now these other teams think they can beat LSU, actually they know they can. Most people that play Bama, are beat before stepping on the field, and if not after 1 quarter, in a half of play.

At one time that was LSU. LSU can be much better with the right leader, training, and assistants. Saban saw this before coming to LSU. If you run plays to take advantage of your talent advantage, then you can take over the game. I think that's what we will see in this team and this year while we get better and better overall in all phases. You will see the fight back in LSU football, while seeing the crisp play we all have seen before. Our team didn't get dumber. The emphasis just wasn't put in some key areas of football apparently.

The Bama defense didn't cause all those TOs and get all those TDs on D by accident or because they are just this superior team to everyone. They did that because they were taught how to look for those opportunities and take advantage. If LSU can do half of what Bama did last year, as for as TOs, what do you think that would do in close games? Could blow them open or give us the 7 points we needed to get the win. It's the small things that make all the difference in the world. GT
