Football Questions

Astute football observers probably know these facts but nobody calls me an astute observer.
What formation does your offense typically play out of, if you know, given your new O coordinator? Is it a pro set? Do you use double tight ends?
Do you have a 4-3 or 3-4 alignment?
What will be the strength of your defense this year?
How are your special teams traditionally?
Do you have a reliable kicker? I imagine your coverage teams are good, given the overall speed your team has.
Besides Guice, who is your primary playmaker on offense?
Who are your top two playmakers on defense?
Will there be any special freshmen playing that fans should watch for?
Thank you for your comments in advance.

No one knows. Brand new coordinator with a brand new offense in his first year and they've closed practice to the media.
We are very excited to see what he unveils but no one really knows.

Our team is a "base" 3-4 but we will likely run more of a 4-3 alignment against BYU.

LSU has traditionally had very good and consistent kickers. The guy who won the job is a walk-on who beat out a highly recruited kicker.

DJ Chark would be the next "big" name.

Arden Key, who will not play, would be the undisputed best player on defense.
I will say Devin White & Rashard Lawrence will be the next best. Coaches love Lawrence, Fans love White.
I'll go with Lawrence, just barely.

There will be an incredible number of freshmen playing. 4-5 starters, 10+ in the 2-deep.
Watch out for Chaisson, who will likely start in place of Key.

Wind:
Does anybody know what sort of offense Brand ran at his last place? Or has he never been an O Coordinator before?
Btw, you should help canjunduby out with his selection of pics.

The brand new O Coordinator. I was too lazy to look up his name.

He "builds" his offense around the strength of his team. So honestly, no one knows what to expect.
Your best bet would be to look at film from Pittsburgh (the only team to beat National Champion Clemson last year) to see what his offense MIGHT look like.
A lot of shifts and (sometimes) fake jet-sweeps. Distributes the ball to a lot of different players. Senior QB using all his weapons and getting everyone involved.
Honestly, no one knows what to expect though. The personnel at LSU is unique and new for Canada. It will likely evolve as the season moves on.
For the game this Saturday vs BYU, no-one knows what to expect. LSU fans are very excited after a vanilla i-formation power run approach for more than a decade. Your best guess is as good as any LSU fan, sports writer or pundit.
The truth is, none of us know what the 2017 LSU offense will look like when the lights come on Saturday night in the dome.
I'll give you one guarantee:
Guice (#5) will get the ball. A lot.

Thanks for the reply, as that gives me insights. Some of that will give your team the opportunity to use its speed to its advantage. It will be enjoyable to watch, if one is a Tiger fan, I imagine.

Are you more closely related to prokaryotes or eukaryotes?
Posted on 8/31/17 at 6:46 pm to Bmath
Domain Archaea are prokaryotes of course.

You need to read up on Loki Archaea

Oh well, I forgot about that renegade phylum. You got me there. Well done.
I was out of school long after that phylum was discovered. What did Carl Woese know anyway.

Well he just had incomplete information.

Correct me, as I am no expert on anything especially not lokiarcheota, but isn't there a belief that Lokie and Eukaryotes share a common ancestor?

Thanks. Bill Martin has done a lot toward that.

Do you prefer Fig Tree or Archaeopteryx?
Posted on 8/31/17 at 7:20 pm to Bmath
That is complex, and I certainly don't know enough to dispute what Wang and O'Connor wrote about pygostyles. Your opinion, which will be more informed than mine?
