A pastor living in a $10.5MM home in River Oaks doesn't sit right with me, but the criticism of Lakewood Church in this situation seems pretty ridiculous.
Osteen preaches "prosperity gospel", basically if you're a good Christian, God is going to reward you with money, the right job, no problems in your life..........none of that being in scripture, mind you. But him living in opulence is a good image for people who buy into that.

What's wrong with believing that God will reward you with a good job and money? You work hard and do the right thing, how is it that good things should not happen to you?
Now, as far as no problems in your life....seriously??? Who would believe in that? We all have problems.

This is 100% the truth. The gospel he preaches isn't the gospel from the Bible, but it's a message that resonates with a lot of people who deep down are good people.

Basically what NPR said this morning. The leader of a prosperity church must be drenched in prosperity.
