Any one know of an app for managing personal finances. Plug in income and bills and what not.

Much appreciated. I'll look into it.

If you're looking for a ledger type of app, MoneyWiz has changed my life.

I like personal capital, not as good at budgeting compared to Mint but really easy to use

I use Mint. I recently downloaded the Every Dollar app but the layout on the Android wasn't very user friendly.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for YNAB -- wish I would have found it when I was a lot younger

As someone who frequently complains about "app bloat," what are the biggest benefits of these apps. What makes them really special or helpful?

Convenience of keeping track and producing reports
You can keep track in excel, but that requires you to do work on the backend. With these apps, you submit and go

YNAB - tracks income and expenses, savings goals, good if you have trouble sticking to a budget, not much else. $50/yr
Every dollar - same as YNAB except not as gimmicky of a budgeting scheme. Follows Dave Ramsey’s budgeting method. Free but $99/yr if you want to import transactions from your bank accounts
Personal Capital - focused more on tracking investments and financial planning, less on budgeting. Free
Mint - does a little bit of everything, but no single thing as well as the apps above. Free
Quicken - most robust out of all. Budgeting isn’t as good as YNAB, investing not as good as Personal Capital but imo the best overall product. Will be moving to subscription based in 2018. Has the most support for the most financial institutions.
Banktivity (formerly iBank) - Mac only, like quicken but not as good imo. $65
Moneydance - like quicken but not as good. $50
