But the statues...
The statues have been taken care of.
Rest easy Nola, and be thankful that you have such a brave, forward thinking mayor.

Take refuge on the empty pedestals.

The statue issue is definitely the reason the pumps aren't ready

How much of that money could have been spent on more important things?

Obviously not, but that's not really the point. The point is that Mitch was too busy trying to build national cred that he left more important shite to fall by the wayside. It's pretty freaking alarming that they knew about this problem for as long as they did and not one thing was done about it.

But if the money used to remove the statues could have saved one child's life!

The fact it was an issue is just another example of NOLA government's failures.

At the very least, it shows that Mitch is very bad at prioritizing the budgeting of the people's money.

Why specifically aren't they all ready? I just read he said 105 of the 120 pumps are working. I don't follow NOLA politics at all, so just wondering how much of it falls on him, or if the City Council has gotten in the way, of it's a failure across the baord.

I hope he trips on a pot hole and drowns to death in a flooded street in a failing pump section of the city next to a clogged catch basin.

From what I understand there are multiple turbines that are not operational and over a dozen pumps. I don't know exactly how long they've been in this state, but long enough for this to have been needing attention months ago. They are saying it will take months before they are all operational again.
Mitch can pass the blame as much as he wants, but technically he is head of the S&WB. I won't place 100% of the blame on him, but it's really shitty of the people at S&WB who came out after the fact to say they had known about this.

So how many people are left homeless for indefinite periods of time while a statue stands as opposed to bad storms hitting and interrupting people's lives?

Yeah, because if he hadn't been wasting months of his time and millions of city dollars trying to get a few 100 year old statues removed, maybe he would've had time to actually attend a S&WB meeting (since as mayou, he's the president of S&WB) and realize what a cluster frick it was before a summer time thunderstorm caused widespread flooding in the city

It's not the statues themselves it's the proof behind them. It's the proof that the money and effort and coordination to fix some of this city's problems exists but Mitch Landrieu, Latoya Cantrell, and the rest of the pathetic excuse, waste of oxygen, "leadership" in this city is too lazy, egotistical, ignorant, and pathetic to use it for good.

echnically he is head of the S&WB.
That was my next question - if the city owned the S&WB or if it had its own board and management.
Sounds like a mess.

You're in Texas. Why don't you worry about how this is gonna affect Dallas and leave NOLA to us to worry about, huh?

Can anyone name one good thing he has done for New Orleans? Serious question. One thing.
