Few interesting tidbits:
O: "Offense came out and started fast. Hit us with a big 57-yard touchdown pass from Danny to (Chark)."

Etling 13-22, 168, 3TDs, 1INT
Brennan 10-20, 122, 1 TD, 1INT
Narcisse 0-2 rushing TD

Racey McMath returned to practice, O says. He caught two passes in the scrimmage.

Brennan and Justin Jefferson connected on a TD

#LSU's defense had 7 recorded stats today, O says. On third down, O says, defense beat offense.

O names Gage, Chark and Dillon as WR starters.

WR Dee Anderson remains out with injury, Orgeron says

O: "Monday will be Tell The Truth Monday. Tuesday game planing for #BYU starts."

Orgeron says he hasn't seen freshman LBs like #LSU's got right now since his days at Miami (Phillips, Queen and Taylor)

#LSU plans a starting QB next week, Orgeron says. Staff will meet, etc.

O on Lowell and Myles: "Hopefully we can play both of them this year

O on Cushenberry/Ingram on RG: "Cushenberry has the upper hand."

O on Darrel Williams as a receiver too: "We want to throw the ball to our backs, spread the ball around.

O on #LSU's offensive identity: "We can run the football. Play-action has improved. Still have work on pass pro

Jerry Sullivan, the WR consultant, is no longer with #LSU. He was just with them for camp. Might come back to visit for season

O says it's "neck and neck between Tyler and Jacob" in the backup role behind Donnie Alexander

Connor Culp made a 53-yard field goal today, O says

Ross is still posting or tweeting updates.

According to Gonsoulin's twitter, he said it was him who made the 53 yarder. Tweet has been recently deleted FWIW

Hope they don't have to play. Odd statement

What's odd about it? They'll both be competing for the starting gig in the spring. He wants to get them live reps this year, so he hopes that's possible because we're up big in a few games.

So we'd burn both of their redshirts?
Burn one if necessary, but not both.

not much size there. Dillon is listed at 5'11, Gage at 6'0. (Yes I know OBj and JL we're both 5'11)

O is saying he'd rather get to see them live before they really enter a competition next year than conserve their redshirts. It's a significant thing to say, but not "odd" given the nature of the position these days. You can't bank on them staying 5 years, especially if one loses to another in the same class in year two.

I like this statement. Specifically if he means they will be worked into the regular offense. My only worry is Narcisse's knee.

One of these two guys is almost certain to be the starter next year, the other the backup. After that, one can either redshirt to split them up/stay in the program or transfer

One of them is going to leave regardless of a redshirt. Both want to be a starter for more than a year. Sucks we will lose one but that's what happens when you get two great players at qb in the same year.

My two thoughts on this:
1) I don't think the majority of Matt Canada's passing offense needs a tall receiver. Some passes will be behind the line of scrimmage. Better to have guys to make defenders miss than tall lumbering guys that take a while to get going.

2) ALL receivers will play. With all the motions, sweeps, etc the receivers will need to be platooned to keep them from being totally worn out.
Why'd D.J. Chark give up root beer? Because Matt Canada's offense is crazy exhausting

Don't remember Culp hitting a 53 yder. Especially considering he was short on a 42 yd one

More tweets from Ross:

Notice: the change in passing attempts for the quarterbacks.

Stats from all three of #LSU's scrimmages, in order from first to second to third.

1st or 2nd scrimmage:

3rd scrimmage:

Honored to have Governor Edwards speak to The Tigers after preseason game 3 in Tiger Stadium today!

Sure looks like JaCoby Stevens is getting some of those jet sweep/end-around carries, by the way.

So will our skill position players stats be somewhat similar to these? Not as far as yards but as in everyone getting touches

Looks like it and probably more than at Pitt and NC State with LSU's talent and defense.

quote:

At Pittsburgh last season, five non-quarterbacks carried the ball at least 30 times. Five players made at least 20 catches. At NC State in ’15, six non-quarterbacks carried at least 30 times. Six players caught at least 20 passes.

quote:

In Miles’s last full year at LSU, three non-quarterbacks carried the ball at least 30 times and only two players caught at least 20 passes. Last season, LSU had three non-quarterbacks carry at least 30 times and three players catch at least 20 passes.

The coach is left with starter Greg Gilmore and Alexander, who has missed several practices while “battling some injuries” and is “a little overweight right now,” the coach said. “That kind of puts Greg ahead of him,” Orgeron said. “Ed is a tremendous football player. As soon as we can get him in the condition we want and completely healthy, he can be a dominant player.”

Well frick.

I read it as he's back to practicing so hopefully he's 100% by conference play.
