Facts, most white kids today listen to rap, go to a rap concert and its majority white kids too, frat or house parties only rap is played. I think in 5-10 years there is going to be a majority culture shift in music, if that hasn't happened already. I also think Rock is further behind, they count Coldplay, Imagine Dragon and others as Rock. Hip-Hop is now 25% of America's Listening.

i cant name a single rock band that makes music right now that is worth their weight in shite.
classic rock is still the best. gimme rush, van halen, zeppelin, the who, etc over rap any day.

Rock may be on life support, but my teenage kids and their friends have a strong interest in arena rock and 80s pop. Like any generation, they intentionally try to have different musical tastes than old people (anyone over 20).

It hasn't overtaken rock before this year?
That's hard to believe... all kids listen to these days is rap and a few pop artists. Not even just kids, but most people under 30 it seems like.
I can't even name a single currently popular rock band.

There are still good bands but you have to search them out these days.

And those were either new in their own genre or were a clash of genres like music is now...

My biggest problem with rap is it's tendency to suck live.
And before anyone takes it the wrong way I'm not saying all of it sucks live.

Hip hop has been devastating to the African American community, yet they celebrate it like a badge of honor.

I am a hip-hop fan. There is a lot of shitty hip-hop out there, but there is also a lot of really good hip-hop.
I also like all types of music, but pop is where artist have to go in order to go mainstream. Even country music... There are songs I hear that shouldn't even be considered country. It is sad that since the early 2000s the quality of music has diminished.
