Pro-Trump billionaire donates $300,000 to unseat Jeff Flake

Jeff Flake is one of the few elected Republicans to publicly break from Donald Trump, denouncing Trump-style populism in his new book and refusing to endorse Trump during the presidential election.
Now, Trump-supporting billionaire Robert Mercer is donating $300,000 to a super PAC backing Kelli Ward, one of Flake's Republican primary challengers, Politico's Alex Isenstadt reports.
Why it matters: Polls show that Flake is deeply unpopular in Arizona, and Republican primary voters are still overwhelmingly supportive of Trump. The precarious situation Flake finds himself in shows the risks other Republicans will be taking if they challenge Trump.

Every incumbent needs to be primaried.

I'm pro Trump, but it isn't so much RINOS like Flake opposing him. It's the fact that they made promises that they had no intention of keeping.
Congress has accomplished little to nothing since we got rid of that tumor Barack Obama. And Flake and those like him are the very reason why.

Because at heart they are democrats, they have one mission, pay back their lobbyists.

The GOPe and Speaker need to be primaried out. Someone needs to grow a pair and tell McCain no more-- he is sick in the head and he is 80. Then vote in term limits and no more slush funding.

Beating this a-hole in the primary is the most important race of 2018.
That is why we have such a shite Congress. So many choices come down to cowardly GOPers vs. positively horrid kook liberals.

Instead of merely throwing his support behind candidates like Strange, I hope that Trump comes out against people like Flake directly.

Bamarep has said for years that special interest and lobbyist money are the single biggest driver in the corruption in our government.
It even drives term limits. If the couldn't get stupid rich they'd go back to private service.

Whose lobbyists? And why would you have to pay back any lobbyist since they are already paid on the front end to lobby.

This is what I've said to everyone who would listen.
They never wanted to repeal Obamacare; its passage brought about historic electoral victories for them. They wanted to keep it, allow it to keep hurting average Americans, and run on it forever.
They didn't come out to support Trump because they wanted Hillary to win. Another Clinton in the White House meant getting their faces on t.v., more chances to hold bombastic hearings and get their sound bites out, and more importantly, it would put hundreds of millions of dollars in their election funds over 8 years from the absolutely miserable populace.

quote:I agree to an extent. I've done a 180 on Cruz. He has supported the president and gone to bat for his policies and efforts to reduce regulation, eliminate spending and support his efforts to recreate a fair trade policy.
Every incumbent needs to be primaried.
However, that sniveling fake of a conservative, Texas Senator John Cornyn, who is the senate majority whip, needs to go. He needs to be primaried hard.
He has one job to do as whip: ensure party discipline in a legislature. Whips are supposed to be the party's "enforcers"; they invite their fellow legislators to attend voting sessions and to vote according to the official party policy. In this regard, he has failed miserably.
