quote:i always wanted to work in radio, but radio is all top 40 because the FCC made talk radio too risky for companies.
I always assumed he works for traditional media.
ironically top 40 is a money pit and radio divisions are close to insolvency. Michael powell killed radio. or was it not so whacko jacko's wardrobe malfunction. ironically that created the golden age of TV, but it killed radio.

alex jones' youtube career owes a lot to his radio and tv appearances...all credit to him, he knew what he was doing.
he just got even more exposure with the Kelly thing. the piers morgan interview which he parlayed (not unlike sam harris) into other tv and radio appearances. he's smart. if you want to view things very specifically, yes alternative media is the death of political media. good riddance.
to that i have no argument. it's an entirely different discussion and people like jones will probably tell you they wouldn't exist if not for the failure by the traditional outlets to be honest and forthright.

You're exactly describing the angle I'm coming from. Shapiro just recently became the #1 political podcast in the country and I think will get more powerful by the day the more people are exposed to him. In retrospect resigning from Breitbart with Michelle Fields I think was a great decision. He's more popular than ever and this will only increase.

But understand you have 100 or so alternative choices really more collectively replacing 10, 15 or 20
#1 political podcast is very specific, dwarfed by #1 on pick a channel and Ben shapiro has been making the rounds on tv news shows for years. radio appearances for years. Social media presence that increased in large part to those appearances
It's funny piers Morgan was such a ratings pit but thinking about it, it's quite the indictment of how loathsome people find him that heated segments boosted the careers of his guests and did nothing to stop his bleeding poor piers
