I spent last week on Bigfoot. It's sort of offshore, docked on the beach at Kiewit.

I've caught a lot of tuna around Mars.

They are notorious for refusing to fly because it rained the day before.
Nah, they aren't really that bad. They had a bad crash years ago but wasn't really anyone's fault. Damn bird strikes.

Yes I have. It's your typical TLP platform. Gym, internet, four meals per day, free laundry service and it floats.
At one time they had a really good looking Latino (female) mud logger for Sperry working on it.

No. Shared a room with your relief. 1 man rooms weren't common when those rigs were built.

Auger had a basketball court in one of the pontoons. Was great then some jerkoff got hurt and the basketball court was closed down.

Celtic Sea was alright. I haven't been offshore much and it was all on that shithole

I worked on Mars for 5 years. I left the December after Katrina. It was the first rig That I had ever worked on and the people at that time were great. There may be one or two people left from when I was working, so I'm not sure how much I can tell you is accurate.

I'm flying out there Saturday. Job was originally last Wednesday but has been pushed back every day and now it's Saturday. I've only been on land jobs so I'm just curious about life on the rig. I will only be out there no more than a week.
Life on offshore facilities isn't bad, but there usually isn't much to do for off time. Probably going to consist of free meals, sharing a room with someone, etc. Hopefully they have decent internet access, as some companies are beginning to block any video streaming. Plan to stay longer than a week, as you may be disappointed/frustrated if you only plan for a week.

Its like being in prison but you get a paycheck. I been working offshore for almost 20 years and if I could get a decent job on land I would in a heart beat. I dont mind manual labor at all. Any leads let me know.
Companies like Apache and Anadarko are going to be looking for people in West Texas for the Delaware Basin area. I believe they are going to attempt to attract personnel for 7/7 rotation

As a 3rd party service hand I'm on a anadarko site as I type this and we don't get a rotation. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

True story. I always sit by the door on chopper flights. We took off from Shell Auger and 20 minutes into the flight the door by me flies open. That was a 1 hour 20 minute flight. I held that piece of shite PHI door closed with my right leg for an hour.
Maybe a month previous they had a chopper crash a few feet off the south helipad of Auger. No injuries but the bird sat there for a couple weeks.

Was out there for a 2 week hitch a number of years ago. Depending on which accommodations you're staying in, it isn't too bad. I remember the showers being tiny but thats to be expected....food was good. I actually miss the 'roll' of the platform; made for a good nights/days sleep. Beats the hell out of some other places I've worked. Quite a few steps up to the rig floor though, so don't forget anything on your way up
Be safe.
