How is it possible that the most intellectually capable & educated in our society are so prone to violence?

Thank that fascist Rudy Giuliani for stop and frisk and changing the course of crime in NYC

But now that Rudy is out of office, the rates are heading back up.

One contributing factor:
Highest levels of drug trade (highest demand) meets generally well funded law enforcement agencies.

You're right.
The real reason for NYC crime rates lowering is gentrification, but nobody wants to talk about that.

There was a post the other day about how states with the lowest IQ rates always vote R. Everyone wrote that off as correlation without causation. But tell me how this is different. Please.

It's exactly the same.

At least your honest. Cheers to that sir.
And they are correlated for a reason. It may not be direct causation, but there are some connections there. In both instances.

yup...and I think we both know what the connections are.

quote:I wish it were that easy, but it's not. It's not like the entire city has been gentrified. The rate of violent crime has plummeted for a variety of reasons - and it seems unlikely due to increased police/prison policies. New York is a state that famously "uncracked" down on prisoners - releasing a lot of prisoners...to the effect of a continuing decrease in crime.
The real reason for NYC crime rates lowering is gentrification, but nobody wants to talk about that.

Gentrification is exactly the reason.
I read somewhere that of the worst 100 streets to live in NYC in 1990, 97 now have property values exceeding $1,500/sf.
That kind of increase in property value will forces the poors out...which drives crime down.
