If you get rid of the tickets it'll be very hard to get tickets again

That is also a nice myth... for non-conference, and sadly today some conference games, that's true. But for "big games" the ticket sellers want well above face value and it's a "sellers market".
For cappy games, you are often lucky to be able to sell at any price, so yes...that's a buyers market.
Having "season tickets" isn't about paying the lowest possible price, because with the donation fees, it will virtually never be the lowest price.

i been having mine since 95. I started selling them 5 years ago when I started working the games. this year the guy backed out. crappy home schedule.so my son will take a friend or maybe even sell to a few friends if they ask. will not be making money this year on them . I keep them because they are in north endzone and will never get those seats again if I gave them up

have season tickets and went to every game last year, but I could have easily paid for the entire season by just selling the Bama tickets.
For 3 years I worked project work and had to sell my tickets on a weekly basis. Even with a good SEC home schedule and fetching well above face for those tickets, I ended up losing money all 3 years. It's simply too difficult to recoup funds for any non-conference games. I always made enough to cover my ticket invoice, but couldn't recover the Tradition Fund money...
And yes, there are more Season tickets for sale this year on TD - it's a poor economy and the worst home schedule I can remember.

They know they can recover some funds. The economy ain't that great in the state and they want to hold onto rights until their disposable income increases

For the past several years, I put up my $10 to buy more seats and I also put in to move my seats. IMO, there have been more and more seats for sale when my ranking comes up.

I unfortunately live out of town now and work saturdays and it keeps me from being able to go, but like others said I don't want to lose them in the hopes of eventually moving back to Louisiana. I will sell them at a loss, only want to recoup my ticket fee, the tradition fund is a wash. If they sell for over face value at auction I credit the customer back the difference

The only reason I sell my season tickets is because I live in Montana

Depending where your seats are you will make money on every game. Certain prices are too expensive at face value or too crappy of a seat to make people pay. But for some areas (endzone) people still pay premiums on StubHub. The few good games alone tend to fetch enough to make it worth you while to keep tickets in your name.
Pay for 7 home games, sell Bama and one other good game. The rest are almost paid for basically. Not to mention you get away game requests that make money and when we get a good bowl it pays off too.

No. You do not get any priority points for paying the TAF fee for tickets. Points are only given for donations and other things. The point system is on their website and you can call them yourselves. I've been paying the fee for 4 tickets since they started this and have 0 points. (I didn't donate to TAF for several reasons, but the biggest is that I have a large family that all attended private elementary and high schools schools and I still have 2 left at LSU. Gotten a slight raise every time one graduated and went to college thanks to tops.) I sell 2 each year so that I can keep them in my name for my family in the future.

i feel they're useless. Just go to the games you want to, always tickets available. Big games cost more, other games cost less than face. I do have Saints Tickets though, that are more of a hassle now that they are all noon games.

Many of us had season tickets when we lived in Baton Rouge, but have since moved to other states. I don't want to give up my season tickets, but I can't make every game.

Two sources of tickets - TAF and direct from athletic department. My tickets are through athletic department and credit is given for portion paid to Tradition Fund. Ranking determines spots for parking, road tickets, etc.
Could you be purchasing from TAF but are in part of the stadium (upper decks) with no Tradition Fund fee, thus not earning points?

So it seems you've got a lot of reasons...
I personally have been buying my tickets from the same lady for 5 years with no guarantee she'll sell them to me next year. This year, I finally got some decent tickets of my own. I will try to sell those to break even because I certainly don't need two sets of two in different parts of the stadium, but now that I'm getting credit for my donations I can try every year to get better seats. In theory.

That is also a nice myth
No myth about it. I haven't ever bothered trying for the Bama game, but I would imagine you could get that at face. There has not been any other SEC opponent come to the stadium that I haven't been able to get under face in the lower bowl in the last 5 years. 10 minutes before a game, the difference between eating the full value or taking some cash convinces people to sell it under face. You are their only shot at that point. With 102,000 seats, there are always tickets available. Non-conference games you can pretty much get for free.
The main reason for getting and then selling the season tickets is to simply retain the rights. People go thru different periods in life where they can't afford them, don't have time to go, have young kids, etc. Keeping them in their name allows them to go when they don't have those life issues.

I get mine through athletic dept. I called them earlier and was told i do not get any points for that fee. Could have been a student who did not know what she was talking about. Thanks
The little points I have may have come from the non renewal parking pass i get.
