Do you want to argue with politicians about what the minimum wage should be?
Why do you think it is needed? Do you think it actually helps anyone other that the unions that have wage contracts tied to increases in minimum wages?
It doesn't reduce poverty. It does eliminate jobs. It does as we see in Seattle result in actually lower wages for the poor.
What is your case to keep it and why if you think the $12 in Seattle is too high would you leave the decision to politicians who may very well decide to make it $12 or $20?

So what mess is it that you see?
the mess created by five years of jindal and team r running the state even further into the ground during a fiscal crisis but cutting taxes even more.
i know mouthbreathers like you think taxes are theft, but when you're a billion plus dollars in debt, spending cuts and tax increases is what you need
this is basic economics

saying JBE inherited a shite situation from a shite governor and shite legislature doesn't mean i care about gov't than people.
the biggest dysfunction in our state government was repealing the Stelly Tax Plan (aka, the "Jindal Tax Cuts")
you know who sponsored the bill to repeal the plan?
you know who didn't support the repeal but was facing a veto-proof voting bloc?

until we rewrite that, nothing will change

Stelly Tax should of stayed in place.

This is the biggest problem but nobody wants to put in the time to fix it

a legislative move that Jindal did not support but had no way to stop. hell he event old them legislature to slowly implement the repeal but JBE and the boys said no
i am not a Jindal fan, but i live in reality. the repeal of the Stelly Tax Plan was short-sighted, stupid, emotional, and ended up being terrible. this repeal was in no way Jindal's baby and was 100% on the legislature

i don't know if we can, at this point
it's become too big of a monster. can you imagine what threats we'd face trying to make a new Constitution right now?

It's a state constitution I'm not following what threats you are speaking of?

the one major tax repeal that occurred during his admin was not his policy and it was one he didn't support or want

a reason why Constitutional amendments and the structure of our shitty system are used to protect spending is to preserve that power/budget. any area you even tried to remove from this protection (we're not even talking about actually doing any cutting or revision) would revolt
then there are the CRA threats to any streamlining that may affect minority representation in government

We have far more debt that a billion dollars.
I agree we need spending cuts from our now $30 billion budget.
We do not need to be taxed any more. You favor taxes and more government. I do not.
It is clear.

That is correct. Jindal fought Stelly reform until it was politically impossible to fight then he changed sides.
He gave lip service to some tax cuts while he was chasing some national office.
He raised fees. He dramatically increased spending on stupid crap like film industry welfare. While all the LSU bureaucracy whines about the ONE year he cut their operating budget you will never hear them whine about the hundreds of millions he spent on capital improvements on campus.
He had the political capital in term one to drastically curtail the government but he did not want the publicity of fighting the legislature while he was running for whatever he was running for. Ironically had he really changed things he probably would have had a legitimate chance for national office.
To his credit he resisted raising sales and income taxes.

i mean what Jindal-proposed tax cuts became official policy?
Stelly was not Jindal's baby. that was the Legislature's (JBE sponsored the bill so he should own it)
what else did we have?

Only because my IQ surpasses 100. I favor taxes and efficient spending because I want what is best for society. I'm not a selfish asshat

John Bel Edwards has no respect for business--still wants to tax em more and raise wages
John Bel Edwards still wants to raise the minimum wage. LINK
He is too dumb to understand how bad this has worked out in other communities.
Seattle Minimum Wage Hurting Low Wage Workers
He was raised on government money, went to school on government money, what little business his law firm has is government business, and he is at least the fourth generation of his family to have done the same thing.
He has never run a business. He doesn't know what it means and what it takes to be successful in business.
The role of business in his mind it too provide politicians with contributions, provide taxes for them to spend and provide targets for trial lawyers to sue.
He has NO respect at all for the work it takes to build a business.
He can't even build a little bridge over the Tangipahoa River in a timely manner with taxpayer money. He is a poor administrator, his brother is at best a poor administrator of the sheriff's office in Tangipahoa Parish, his father was a poor administrator that left the office virtually bankrupt and he, Frank Edwards, Sr., went personally bankrupt.
Screw him.
Sooooo. he's a liberal? Is that what you're getting at?
