John Bel Edwards still wants to raise the minimum wage. LINK
He is too dumb to understand how bad this has worked out in other communities.
Seattle Minimum Wage Hurting Low Wage Workers
He was raised on government money, went to school on government money, what little business his law firm has is government business, and he is at least the fourth generation of his family to have done the same thing.
He has never run a business. He doesn't know what it means and what it takes to be successful in business.
The role of business in his mind it too provide politicians with contributions, provide taxes for them to spend and provide targets for trial lawyers to sue.
He has NO respect at all for the work it takes to build a business.
He can't even build a little bridge over the Tangipahoa River in a timely manner with taxpayer money. He is a poor administrator, his brother is at best a poor administrator of the sheriff's office in Tangipahoa Parish, his father was a poor administrator that left the office virtually bankrupt and he, Frank Edwards, Sr., went personally bankrupt.
Screw him.

and if Diaper Dave Vitter were in this position brought on by years of a republican controlled executive and legislative office, you'd be keeping quiet.
because you're that trash outsiders envision when they think of backwoods Louisiana

I don't think he's too dumb to realize it. I think he's just a modern party line Democrat. A lot of LA Republicans were just too stupid to realize it, or they placed moral turpitude over the fact that they were electing a Gov who saw them as the state's piggy bank.
I imagine JBE has to know he's likely a one-term Gov (though don't count out the Republicans' ability to frick that up!). Thus, he's going to toe the party line in an effort to possibly get a Federal position if/when he's voted out and if/when the Democrats take back the White House or a branch of congress. I think JBE knows EXACTLY what he is doing.

Whoa! You might want to re-think that position about the OP. That MFer spent 4+ years killing Jindal and his ilk about the Movie-credits. You may not want to kick that hornets' nest

What exactly Machine is the position we are in???
Do you mean we have a government spending more than ever in Baton Rouge and you didn't like it when it was spending less two or three years ago??
Look! taking more from me to run that bloated bureaucracy called the Louisiana State Government WILL NEVER be something I support.
I hate the government elite more every day. The lard asses in their JC Penny polyester suits give away millions of our dollars in exchange for a few thousand in campaign contributions.
John Bel's ultimate purpose is to find a class action lawsuit he can contrive on behalf of the State and then figure out a way to hand it off to trial lawyer contributors to his campaign on contingency. His dream is leave office with big ole IOUs from these trial lawyers who will get richer under his scheme. He can't sleep at night thinking of the money that would eventually get to him if could come up with something like the tobacco lawsuits that netted Louisiana lawyers $575 million dollar!!! in legal fees! Don't be surprised if there is a scandal arise out of Amite that might reach the Governor.
FBI has already raided his brother's office and the FBI supposedly delivered several grand jury subpoenas to former and current local officials last week. LINK The investigations may or may not be related. There is a lot going on from the Sheriff's office including deputies selling drugs, bail bond fraud, and other criminal activities under investigation.

well he figured out a way to keep tops instead of cut funding to higher education so he's not dumb. and he a HELL of alot better than jindal was focused on campaigning for president the entire time he was governor instead of trying to fix the problems at hand while simultaneously trying to convince everyone he was white.

better he tax business more than me! the stake is broke as frick. the money has to come from somewhere. By the way, he not going to bankrupt mom and pop business. I'm sure there a threshold on business income on where taxing will begin.

OH BS. TOPS is a big ole welfare program we should not be taxed to support.
Those higher education facilities are bloated and spend too much. JBE lead the charge to keep SUNO open.
Anyone that would raise taxes on the population and keep a disaster like SUNO open and continue to pay out hundreds of millions to film makers is no friend of the citizens.
You will not find me defending Jindal. His only virtue in my book--and it looks more important every day--was his commitment not to raise taxes. He should have while he had the political capital cut the hell out of the state government.
It is an absolute myth that total spending--capital spending and operating spending--in higher ed went down under Jindal. It should have but it did not.

The state being what?? the government? If the government is broke that is good.
I see the state as the citizens in the state. You see it as the government just like JBE does. You want government preserved and expanding regardless of the cost to taxpayers.

Yes sir that 10% sales tax in most parishes is a big plus to mom and pops. (When did mom and pops become something in need of special treatment?)

Actually first term four years were very good. Last two of last term not so much!
But we would be better off if JBE had started his presidential run on day one!
JBE just proves that no matter what a democrat says, they will always be tax and spending big government arses. I guess the West Point Honor Code teaches misleading, deceiving, and obfuscation.
One and done; don't bother to run.

and wouldn't you know it, that's about the time our legislature became Jindal's lapdog, doing anything he said, regardless of the determent it did to the state.
oh yeah...and we're broke thanks to 'em!
so don't try and pin this mess on JBE when it was the f**ktard republicans that got us into this mess.

The mess I saw when Jindal left office was the state government was too big. JBE has grown it even more so to me he is Jindal on steroids. The big difference in the two was Jindal tried to keep from raising some taxes and JBE lies in bed at night dreaming up new taxes to grow government.
KBB left with a surplus because of federal money from Katrina BUT I would much prefer KBB to JBE.
So what mess is it that you see?
It is obvious you favor government over citizens.
