Frontier Airlines to Add 21 Cities and 85 New Routes: MSY-Austin/San Antonio $68 roundtrip

Huge announcement from Frontier today with tons of implications for everywhere in the south. If you see the routes, use em or lose em. Frontier will either go bankrupt with all these new routes or they'll be highly successful. Big implications for new orleans are the nonstops to Austin (Oct. 5), Long Island/Islip, N.Y. (Oct. 6), Providence (Oct. 5), and San Antonio (Oct. 6).

Frontier Airlines revealed a massive route expansion Tuesday that the company says will add 21 new destinations and 85 new routes to the carrier’s network. With that, the number of cities on Frontier’s route map will swell to 82 by next summer.
Also set for a dramatic increase is Frontier’s overall flight schedule. The airline will add dozens of non-stop flights between other cities that it already serves.
As for Frontier's 21 “new” destinations, 16 are cities that the company had served previously before discontinuing service. The five entirely new cities joining Frontier’s route map are Buffalo; Charleston, S.C.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Ontario, Calif.; and Pensacola, Fla.
The 16 that Frontier is restoring service to are: Albuquerque; Boise; Calgary; El Paso; Fargo, N.D.; Fresno; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Jackson Hole, Wyo.; Little Rock; Louisville; Oklahoma City; Palm Springs, Calif.; Reno; San Jose, Calif.; Spokane, Wash.; and Tulsa.
Elsewhere, Frontier is adding dozens of routes between cities it already serves. Among destinations getting a significant bump-up in new service are Austin, Cincinnati, Long Island/Islip, N.Y., Miami, Orlando, Providence, San Antonio and Tampa. Each of those cities is slated to get anywhere from six to 12 new routes in Frontier's latest expansion.
Atlanta: Long Island/Islip, N.Y.; San Juan, Puerto Rico (Oct. 5)
Austin: Charlotte; Cincinnati; Columbus, Ohio; New Orleans (Oct. 5); Ontario, Calif. (Oct. 12); Phoenix (Oct. 11); Raleigh/Durham (Oct. 5); San Jose, Calif.
Jacksonville, Fla.: Cincinnati; Denver
Knoxville, Tenn.: Orlando (Oct. 5)
Nashville: Fort Myers, Fla. (Oct. 6); Tampa (Dec. 17)
New Orleans: Austin (Oct. 5); Long Island/Islip, N.Y. (Oct. 6); Providence (Oct. 5); San Antonio (Oct. 6)
Pensacola, Fla.: Denver
Tampa: Buffalo (Dec. 6); Columbus, Ohio (Dec. 17); Indianapolis (Nov. 12); Long Island/Islip, N.Y. (Oct. 5); Kansas City (Dec. 16); Milwaukee (Nov. 10); Minneapolis/St. Paul (Oct. 5); Nashville (Dec. 17); Providence (Oct. 5); St. Louis (Oct. 5)

I've actually heard good things about Frontier compared to other budget airlines, so this is exciting. MSY to Austin is a nice route.

Frontier use to have a $40 rt from MSY to Atl if you scheduled it correctly. I've flown this a few times and you get what you pay for.

Some of these routes will hit, most probably won't sustain. I like the boldness though.

Little more info on the flights out of Nola.
MSY to Austin will be Tuesday/Thursday/Sundays and the cheapest one-ways I'm seeing are $34, $68 roundtrip... that is a steal to get from nola to austin...
MSY to Islip/Long Island is Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturdays. That's pretty good availability to make your way into NYC, considering the price is $44 for a one-way, $88 roundtrip...
MSY to Providence is Tuesday/Thursday/Sundays for $49 one-way, $98 roundtrip
MSY to San Antonio is Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Saturdays for $34 one-way, $68 roundtrip.

It's great news. MSY is gonna have so many options, and the more options the cheaper the flying.

Sept 7 to 10th
Nola to Richmond is $244 on Delta. There's quite a few options to leave out of Nola (in the link below, I just picked noon getting in at 5:30pm), on the return there's one flight option leaving at 11am going through Laguardia. LINK
If you wanted to do williamsburg and save yourself the 1 hr 45 min drive each way, it's only $311 to fly into newport news on American. Flights leave the 7th at 6am or 9:15am getting in at 2:45pm, on the return leave at 8pm arriving MSY 11:43pm. It's the same price to leave on the 8th and you can fly on Delta or American in that case LINK
ETA: If you're really desperate, spirit has nonstop MSY-Baltimore flights on your dates for $119 roundtrip. However, that will add a lot more driving to your quick vacation, would not recommend. LINK. $234 Nola to Washington Reagen nonstop for your dates on Southwest (can't link)

The NOLA to Austin leg is $34($24 for some dates) but the return is $158 most days. Hopefully this is an error.

Pretty sure it's an error, definitely saw the $34 each way last night. Also the first return flight from Austin to Nola is scheduled for Oct 17th even though the start date is Oct 5th. Temporary solution is just book the one-way to Austin and when it fixes itself over the weekend or in a few weeks book the one-way back. The flights are empty

I'm having this same issue. Was about to book a trip to Austin but the return is like $200. Hope they fix it soon.
Thanks for all the info and heads up as always, Cuse

Update time! For those of you looking at booking trips to austin, the return flights have been fixed. I'm seeing $34 for both directions MSY-AUS and AUS-MSY

Yes it's on their website here. Flights are Sundays/Tuesdays/Thursdays. If you want to pick an extra comfy seat up front with more legroom it's only $15 (not a bad deal)
