I forgot Clinton's first term was such a clusterf***. Whitewater went on for years. But, I did laugh out loud hearing again bill's convo with monica ..."smoking a cigar, Clinton took it and put in vagina, then put it back in his mouth, saying 'that tastes good'"

He lost 60 seats and gave the house away for the first time since 1948. Nobody can sanely call the portion of his term with dem control of congress a "success".

Then Gingrich became speaker and Clinton became "successful"

Bill Clinton is perhaps the most overrated president of all time.

What legacy did he leave America that other "great" presidents did? FDR had the new deal and WW2 and the great depression. Reagan had the reagan revolution, conservative reemergence, massive tax cuts, and most importantly the death of the soviet union.

What was Bill Clinton's massive historical mark? I can't think of anything. He did not fulfill ANY major liberal policy plans, and the biggest policy changes in his time were conservative: welfare-to-work, capital gain tax cuts, decreases in government spending.

On the foreign policy stage, nothing significant.

He lucked into a golden time in america and basiaclly just sat there and took all the credit.

It was all about 'triangulation.' It worked like this:

Gingrich and the House do Welfare reform (get a job).
Clinton opposes.
It passes and succeeds in getting people to work.

Clinton to blacks: I opposed the GOP.
To whites: Under my administration lots of people left welfare and got jobs.

That's usually a good thing.

Of course in Willie's case, he inherited a relatively stable world.

The world was not as stable as it appeared. There were shadows brewing in the middle east that his admin failed to neutralize.

I enjoyed the part showing his second victory speech in Little Rock because I was at that party. Weird moment in Arkansas history.

You know, that part where they showed Bill holding Chelsea and Hillary to his sides, while Hillary feigns emotion watching the fireworks explode over Little Rock.

He was a mess back then.
