2017 Taylor-Made M2 irons and woods

I recently played a Greg Norman resort course in Puerto Vallarta at Vidanta. I was thrilled to be able to play because I had suffered through a severe case of tendonitis in my left wrist since mid-June of last year and couldn't hit anything without sharp, severe pain. About a month ago it subsided and I hit a few balls at Top Golf with my son and his friends and, of course, sprayed them everywhere.

Anyway, I make this point because the rental clubs at the course were brand new M2 irons and woods. I had a forecaddy and played it down, by the rules, no mulligans, put one in the drink when I under-clubbed (not listening to the caddy tell me I was under-clubbed) and sent one OB by about 4" on my first shot off the tee (with the caddy telling me to take a mulligan and me refusing). Still, I was able to card a 41/43 (par was 35/38). How was this possible? I played from the blue tees while my 80 year old FIL (it was his birthday and his treat from me) played from the red tees.

Those irons were unbelievably forgiving and long. Except for the one Par 3 where I under-clubbed, I hit almost every approach from every distance. Each shot was like a bullet towards the green. The driver was easily giving me the opportunity to place my tee shot where I wanted it. I landed in the sand a few times on approach and this cost me a few shots.

There is no way I should have played that well. I never got the feel for the greens, but had I been able to putt well, it would have been a great round, but to go out after more than a year off with clubs I'd never played with and shoot an honest +11 was a great feeling. However, I have to give the credit to those clubs. I don't believe that I have ever hit a club that was as forgiving and as comfortable to hit as these were. They never felt harsh, but they always gave great feedback and never felt muted.

I'm going to find me a pro shop here in Dallas that will let me play a set just to confirm that what I experienced in Mexico still holds true. If so, then I'll be getting fit by the pro and ordering a new set. At this moment, I highly recommend the 2017 Taylor-Made M2 irons and woods as a high-performance, game-improvement set of clubs.
