Abita brags about MA sometimes but he's usually pretty reasonable about it. I hate the Northeast and I think we've argued about it before
I'd call that a fair assessment.
Just do me a favor and if I ever get to the level of pretentiousness and obnoxiousness as HippieTiger, just take me out back and put a bullet in my brain.

You left the greatest city in America, bro?
Boulder isn't the best city, imo. It's gorgeous. But to pretentious, imo. It would be awesome 30 years ago. But the yuppie's kicked out the hippies, and sent them to Ned and Longmont. Plus, the local music scene in Boulder is pretty weak.
Though I might be moving back to Asheville, NC again. It's on the path to turning into Boulder, but not that far along the gentrification scale. And I like the Appalachian rivers more than the Rockies'. I like to be able to swim and paddle without a wetsuit.
Plus, I got a 50% raise, in a city with half the cost of living of Boulder. And the Ozark Mountains are great. The only thing I really miss is being able to grow weed in my backyard.

Roger always comments on these threads and I don't think of him as a regular LA basher. He definitely doesn't seem to like the South much if I remember correctly but to each their own.
fricking hate the heat but love North La. just spent two weeks there visiting family. People just get their feelings hurt too easily on this board

Me too man. My wife hates the cold though. I think we'll probably compromise after my kids are out of school and maybe move to Asheville or somewhere like that.

I like Abita, he keeps it consistant and real. I think he really does love La but certain circumstances are not allowing him to live here. I can respect that. I can also respect that the reason he comes here is to stay plugged into what's going on down here. Can't fault him for that.
As far as the rest, they left and have made it perfectly clear they never intent to ever come back, yet it seems as though they left something here because they keep coming back, but instead of getting right what they left they just keep coming back to let everyone know 1. They left 2. How great the new place is(even though they've been there for over 20 years) 3. How much La sucks and how much they hate it.
It's very weird.

I've moved a few different places . None for more than 4 years . Kenner is the only place that's ever felt like home
I've lived it worked extensively in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, and Arkansas. And I've worked extensively in South Carolina and Tennessee.
New Orleans is the only place that's felt like home. I didn't most of my life in Florida, but nothing about it feels like home. And it's hard for your head to fight against your heart.

I'm renting space in LNCHBOX's head currently, but prices are so low right now I may take the plunge and just buy.
I really don't think you know what these terms you use mean. I literally never think of you unless you post to me. You on the other hand seem to think a good bit about me even when I'm not around.

Got family in Western North Carolina and they love it. Cooler winter but nothing extreme.

I'm with your wife. Hate cold weather. My next move will be south of LA

Yep. I hate Houston and would not enjoy living there but according to the OT it's a top 5 city in America. It's a hot, concrete jungle full of illegals that has some really nice suburbs.

BTW, in case you didn't know, Abita's parents own a condo in the Quartrer.

Go for it, you'll always be restless until you do it. Regret is an awful thing

That's a big concern for me. I work outdoors. And every summer I was in Nola, I found myself sending my resume to jobs in badass locations. Yet the other 8 months of the year, I loved life. After enough moving, I've figured out that almost no place has perfect weather

Yep. And I have enough of it already.
I figure, if I can get a job in Asheville, NC making 100k a year, I'll take that for sure. I have a coupe friends still there. One is a guy I used to play music with, who owns a music venue in the River Arts district. So I'll make good money and have good music connections in the area, so I'll be happy there.
But if that office tries to send me to Charlotte or Raleigh, I'll just quit, relax a little with my savings, move to Nola and get a simple bartending type job until I find something permanent, or something along those lines.
Hell, when I went back to now for the first time in 3vyears during Mardi Gras, within 2 hours, I was playing jazz in a second line, 5 hours after landing, I was onstage leading a band playing traditional Nola funk. I hadn't felt so at home anywhere in years.
That's when I knew I couldn't stay away.

Appreciate it baw.
I did love growing up in LA and going to college there. And this place is a great way to still feel connected. I'm glad I got the chance to move, but I agree that people who shite on others for choosing to live in LA are in the wrong.

Just saying, you're talking about me when I haven't been around for over 8 hours. Who's thinking about who in that scenario?
